No serious rig is going to be any good without an awning. I simply can not afford to buy a modern roll out awning, but then again, I prefer something that can take some weather. So I always make something that can. This one goes out 8.5 feet x the entire length of the trailer. There are 3 rigid arms (3/4" conduit) attached to the trailer via stainless marine bimini brackets and ends. I found a unique way to make 3/4" conduit compress just right so that one end can be inserted into a stock end. On my first trip out, we had two heavy rainfalls and I was very happy to find that it held up well with no pooling of water at all. Eventually, I will sew up some rip stop and screen for a full enclosure.
