The sites in the lower loop (#1 to #23) and the ones in the inner loop should total 41 sites. That would be big enough for a nice sized gathering (if we all get them early). Regardless, there are more sites in the "upper loop" if they are needed.

I think we go back to a previous discussion....fixed dates for each gathering....with suggested is fine with me. I just need to know what date to reserve my site.

This place looks small though, so early reservation is in order.

I think we're probably out for anything in July. 9 days camping in Disney starting the 19th. We might try to catch the Illinois gathering in August to replace it.

Not everyone will be happy but we need to pick a date soon so we can get the reservations in early.

Update on Dates.

I spoke with Starve Hollow personnel today and the dates of July 17-19 would be best for us regarding the gathering.

The park has a few "major" events that take up most of the camping areas but the July 17-19 weekend is much more "open" as far as our group is concerned.
Like any other DNR facility, we can make normal reservations (six months) in advance to get the sites we want.

With this in mind, let's plan on our Hoosier Chapter Summer Gathering to be at Starve Hollow on the dates of July 17-19.


This weekend will allow a couple of weeks between the "Hoosier Summer" and the "Land of Lincoln Summer" gatherings.

I'm planning on both gatherings.

Reservation alert for Starve Hollow

This must be a very popular campground (especially the water front sites)

I looked at the reserve america site and it shows that several of the water front sites are already booked for July 10-12.

This is the weekend before our gathering but I want to let you know that, in order to get good sites, you must be ready to book them at the earliest possible time.

Hopefully all of us will get in who want to attend the gathering.

Good luck and don't miss out on the reservation for July 17-19. Should be able to reserve Jan 17th at the earliest.

I'm not sure what your looking at, but starve hollow only has 2 shelters available on reserve america at this time...no camping at all...

Sorry, I misunderstood. I didn't fully realize you were looking at the week earlier

We've already got vacation plans for the first two weeks of July...I'm not sure how this will impact it. We're trying to head up to the badlands....deadwood etc. I've been there before, Susan hasn't. The hard part is finding a campground that has trees!!!! I don't want to be in the direct sun up there in July...its a bit warm. I'm reasonably sure we'll be back for the summer gathering though. I always enjoy them...you do a genuinely fantastic job organizing them Kurt.

Gerry, just so there is no confusion, our summer gathering will be July 17-19.

The trip to the Black Hills was a highlight of last year's camping. I'd love to go back as a stop over to Yellow Stone. Have a great trip.
