For anyone coming through Salem on their way to Spring Mill, there is a good place to get your cheese for Friday night. A little store a couple of blocks north of the hwy 56 & 135 intersection on 135 called the cheddar depot. They specialize in cheese and homemade candies along with amish goods. They also have a lodge display set up on an old wood fired cook stove. If you need fresh sandwich making supplies they can fix you right up at their deli. Oh and don't forget a couple dips of ice cream for your sweet tooth... It is a in the family biusness so I had to give them a plug. Oh I almost forgot you can get your last minute door prize items like old style games in a tin or a balsa wood flyer for the kids!
The store looks kind of like a cracker barrel with a full width covered porch so you can't miss it.

I will be kidless at this one except the 14 year old but he requires little attention really his 15 year old cousins will be there also so I probably won't see them all weekend unless it's time to eat.

Also: and added feature this year will be the "Do it Yourself Gathering Awards".

During the gathering, I'll stop by your site and give you an award that you will then take to the campers "listed on the award" and get to know them. After spending a little time with them you can come up with an appropriate award which will be presented at the Pitch-in Dinner on Saturday.

Here is what you will receive:

The cover letter:

"Awards for the Spring Mill Gathering Directions:

1) Find the campers on you award. Get to know them a little.

2) Think of an award that is suitable for the campers.

3) Use a marker to write in (on the Award card) the award that you think they should get. (markers will be provided)

4) Prepare a (very) short presentation speech.

5) The award ceremony will be at the Saturday night pot luck dinner.

This is a great way to meet new Tearjerkers and other campers and it should be fun to do.

The award can be for best galley, most original trailer, best restoration, best Bull $hitter, coolest tow vehicle, best use of a stick, Most obnoxious pants, biggest tarp, worst park job......what ever.

Let's Make it fun.

The "award":

I'm sure there will be questions so start asking.
Thanks to Bob Henry for initiating the "award" idea.
