Scott when you go to Minden, what route are you planning? I can tell you the way "not" to go as well as a few bumps along the way.

Don't really have the route planned out yet whatever is the shortest and quickest. A friend of mine is going with me and we're driving all night. I'd really love to hear what way's not to go.

 Turckey run sounds great. Is it on a Fri and Sat again? I think the wife can get off for that. Do you know what sites?

Minden -
Scott, I made the mistake of going up I-65 to I-80. Next time I'll go up I-65 to SR24 across to (toward) I-74 in Illinois and then back up to I-80.. (in other words- stay clear of Chicago). After that, the trip was fine; all Interstate to Minden.

Turkey Run. Not sites yet. I need to see the Park and check it out.

From the map, the sites around #38 to#65 look good as well as the loop #220

Anybody camped in these areas could help us on this one.

Look 220 looks neat but doesn't have that many sites 38 to 65 has more sites. Guess it would depend on haow many you think might be there.

I was thinking 70 to 29 up to 80. Any disadvantage to this route?
I'll have to do some more looking.

I might try and make a day trip to turkey run next week to see it and take Pics.

Thanks

Minden,
Looks like a whole lot of us are going to pop in on #29 at some point.

Most of Southern MO an maybe Arkansas will go that way.

That will have to be a site for the passer byers. Should turn a lot of heads.

I'm planning on driving through the night the night before I should be at that point by light.

Scott, I live in Marion, so my route didn't include I-70. The main point was to stay away from Chicago. Your route will certainly take care of that.
I keep thinking you live in Greentown (near Kokomo). :o  I know (now) where Greefield is along rt 9. I go thru there when I go to Madison.

If you do get to Turkey Run, please check out the loops that we discussed earlier (#38 , #220). The "RR" modern restroom is always a good thing.

You are showing your age. That's what my old man said about Rock & Roll. But I have to agree with you, the music I grew up on in the late 50's & 60's was happy and upbeat music. What little Hip-hop & Rap I have heard is mostly depressing & negitive. Guess that makes me old too.

The Turkey Run campsites #220 thru #228 are wooded and close to the modern facilities. #231 to #235 are in the open. I don't remember what the areas around the rest of the campgrounds looked like.

I have not used the reservation system on the internet for Indiana State Parks. Will they allow us to select an area or site? I'm ready to make a reservation as soon as plans are firmed up.

This is going to be a long tax season looking foward to my shakedown cruise.

Turkey Run will allow site specific reservations. As soon as the area is decided, I too will make my reservation.

I spoke with Turkey Run park today and the sites around the "West Loop" #229 to #219 is a shaded area.
Rob thought that is is nice area also. It is also very popular accouding to the park rep. I talked to.

This is a good choice, so we will need to reserve sites right away since they will start filling fast (especially the "Sugar Ridge area" West Loop.)

"Sugar Ridge area"

Reservation # 866-622-6746

I have reserved site #220

If sites in the loop are taken get the closest one you can to #229

Call me at 765-661-2779 or send a PM with any questions.

We're in. Cindi & I will be in site 227. We should start a roll call of who will be in which sites as we get reservations.

Only 130 days to go.
