Cooler Near The Lake II

Postby BrwBier » Sat May 26, 2007 8:07 am

Some how I had always thought that you could make reservations for Wisconsin state parks after January 1st, but now I read that you can reserve 11 months in advance. Is it too early to start planning for next years gathering? If it's not too early, then I would vote for the first weekend in May. I believe that will be the weekend for Rockets for schools and also National Home Brew Day. That would give people a couple of choices for daytime activities. I could also go to brew that day and not miss the camping. I also think that some of the rockets are big enough to be seen from Kohler/Andrea state park beach. In the next couple of weeks I will be trying to make a cd of all the campsites in the park (kind of like Missouri state parks have on their web site) and anyone who want a copy can have one.

Brwbier.
Kohler/Andrea SP as the location with May 2,3,4 2008 as the date for CNTL II is your thought? Never too early to get a plan together.

Sounds good to me, I'll mark my calendar and keep checking this thread. But way too early for me to commit.

I think we should decide on a place and weekend? I'm like Brwbier last year, I need a kick in the pants deadline to shoot for!

I think for the location it should be Kohler-Andrae state park. I think the last weekend in April, just like last year. I have been checking the reservation web site and most of the sites are open that weekend.

That weekend is OK with me. You commit to a site and the rest of us will follow with adjacent sites. You know the park better than anyone. We're teardroppers...we can adapt to any site.

I checked the weather for that weekend and it will be just fine. So that leaves only one question before I reserve a site. Electric or no electric. The park is divided almost in half with electric on one side and non on the other. Either half of the park has sites suited to a gathering. Actually, this park has a site to please anyone, some secluded, some good for groups, some if you want to camp alone. I would normally take an electric site because of refrigeration and my clock for when I wake up and want to know if its 11:00 or if its 3:30 in the morning. But since I live only a few miles away it wont matter for that weekend, so I'll say my vote doesnt count. I'll keep watching the reservation site for a few weeks to give people a chance to comment here on which way to go. So tell your friends. And maybe a waffle feast and a coffee show down.

Brwbier:
My vote, if it counts, is for electric sites. I need power for my heated mattress pad, TV, computer, phone, amplified speakers, crock pot, and all the other toys!!
Last time I was there I had a site on the south end just before the road that cuts the south from the north. But like I said, you know the park better than anyone, so I'm sure where ever you choose will be fine with us.

PS I see we got a sticky already. Very good!

Cooler Near the Lake 2

Date: 25-27 April 2008
Place: Kohler-Andrae State Park
http://www.dnr.state.wi.us/org/land/parks/specific/ka/

I think we should commit to the date, location and start booking sites. It would be good to look forward to a scheduled gathering. I typically do not use electric but I think electric sites is what most people would desire. Brwbier maybe you can lead us off and we will book around you based on your recomendation.

If I read the fee schedule right I believe there is a reservation fee: $10 plus the per diem site fee: $20-22, plus the 2008 sticker fees:
Annual
WI resident $25
WI resident age 65 and older $10
Non-resident $35

Cooler Near The Lake II is set for April 25 to 27, 2008. I have reserved site #8. Sites #1 to 13 are particularly well suited to people camping together. Sites 17, 18, 20, 21, 24, &27 are quite near and are nice for a little more privacy. All of these are electric. Sites starting above 43 (I think) are non electric. I have pictures of most of the electric sites already and if you want a picture of ANY particular site or area just ask and I will take care of it. There are some areas of the non electric area that are also quite nice for people together. If anyone wants to see these areas just ask. I will try to get some vidio online of the camping areas in the near future. Now go and tell your friends and commit to a great weekend.

I booked site #10! I hope it is a good one. I see there was a number of sites already booked on the north end of the loop.

Can the lake be seen from the Campground?
