Who's bringing games?

We're bringing ladder ball (ladder golf) and I'll get the stuff today to make a washer pitching game (kind of like horseshoes).

I know Carol (flygal6) has cornhole (beanbag game)....

Rick sounds like the games are covered. I have played ladder ball a couple times but need a lot more practice to be any good!
Tina and Jerry from Savana area might make it but it won't be till Sat. I think it is dependant on Jerry's work schedule. They were up at the Camp Outt last weekend and expressed interest in making this one too!Looks like the weather is going to sunny and warm! 8)

Since our "signature" food at teardrop gatherings seems to be homemade ice cream and DO cobbler, we are planning on making a cobbler and bringing the hand crank freezer and having everyone take a turn at the potluck.

Betsey 8)

Potluck:

pigcooker - a couple hams and sauces
flygal6 - corn casserole
Chuc - veggie dish
Betsey - cobbler and ice cream
Rick - some kind of meat and BBQ baked beans
Dayna - Pumpkin pie (real not canned)

We have an open space due to donkro not being able to make it. This space may now be filled by Mary from the Tin Can Tourists group.

Weather is looking good. Rain has been moved to Monday in the forecast. It'll be a bit on the warm side with highs in the mid 80's.

There will be a few games to play as well.

Reminders:

- The park is dry (no alcohol) I'm sure some will have it with, please keep it well hidden.

- Firewood must be bought on site or at a couple approved stores only due to emerald ash borer infestation.

- Let's all enjoy the weekend!

Shabbona Lake State Park is easily accessible from the Chicago area via I-88. Take I-88 west to the Sugar Grove exit, which is approximately 2 ½ miles west of the Aurora toll booth. Take US 30 west from Sugar Grove approximately 22 miles to Shabbona. Visitors from the Northeast or Southeast, take IL Rt 47 to US 30 west to Shabbona.

Visitors from the Southwest or Northwest, take I-39 to US 30 (exit 87). Directional signs are on the exit ramps. Take US 30 east 7 miles to Shabbona. From the DeKalb area, take IL Rt 23 south to US 30, then take US 30 west to Shabbona. The park entrance is on Preserve Road, approximately ½ mile south of Shabbona. Signs in Shabbona will direct you to the park.

Google maps link: http://tinyurl.com/ytny74 (I used tinyurl to make it shorter)

For GPS users Lat/Long: 41.768314 / -88.869678 will put you just north of the park.

We will be arriving friday around 6pm or after and it's too late to reserve :( and still get a confirmation in the mail. Is there a phone number to reserve with  or can someone reserve us a site and we will reimburse them when we get there?
thanks, tina and jerry

PS...just found a phone number and all reservable sites are full and only first come first serve left. Guess we will just take our chance when we get there, thanks anyways. tina

Sounds good.

Unusual weather may make the campground fuller than I was hoping for (I hate crowds).

We'll keep an eye out for sites and for you.

thanks :) ... we'll check back here before we leave and also call the campground to see if it's full.
I guess that's what we get for deciding at the last minute to come.

We're going to try and get there by lunch time.

We haven't even packed but it won't take long. :) In 12 years in the military I learned I don't need much!

Looking forward to meeting everyone! This get together may be a bit rough for events and etc. but we'll get better with time.

So I don't forget - if you'd like to go just say something tonight...

http://www.jonamacorchard.com/ Located in Malta (about 20 minutes north of the campground). Dayna and I would like to go apple picking tomorrow sometime. Added bonus - if you like old farm equipment they'll have a show tomorrow and Sunday.

Strike that! They're out of apples!!! Low production and early pickers this year. We'll still go and get berries and etc though... :D
