That's great! Nice to have friends look out for each other.

You got it. I will be at 2 shows this weekend. I'll keep an eye out for a type tray cabinet as well.

I wanted to attend this gathering but that is a little too far to drive after work. I don't get home till 6PM and then a 4.5 hour drive is not how to start a vacation. You can only reserve for two nights on a weekend, so I am thinking we might stop there on Saturday and see if any sites are open. It is in the general direction we are heading (that's as close as we get to making plans) so maybe we will see you then. Maybe we could get a cell number from someone and if there is a site open on Saturday morning we could work something out. We'll see when it gets closer.

That's typically how we tend to travel...or leave at 4:00am.

Brwbier,

It took us just under 4 hours to get home from CNTL2 and we are 7 miles from the causeway. I'll be glad to PM you our cell phone number and that way you can call and check out the sites.

If it works out, it'll be great to see you there.
If not, I'm sure you'll have a great time heading onward on your journey.

Bob the above link has a number of camping places offered by the Corp of Engineers along the Mississippi River specifically the Rock Island District. I hope you can find a spot at Thomson Causeway.

Hey Woodbutcher....found and bought a type tray cabinet. It is the smaller drawers. Has 12 drawers in mint condition and the cabinet is made of wood. Looks nice in the living room with my antique oil lamp and mom's doily on top.
thanks for looking.

Good job on the cabinet. I have been to several show and didn't even see one to consider. I may have a waffle iron for you. My MIL picked one up. Not sure of the condition. When I find out I'll let you know. She pays next to nothing for the stuff she finds. So the price is right.

Just wanted to update the site with a list of things to do by the campground and maybe entice a few more to the gathering.

If anyone is a bicycler, the bike trail runs right along the campground. It goes north to savanna and south to the quad cities. There is a bike shop that rents bikes in town called Arnolds bikes and repair.

http://www.recreation.gov/campgroundMap ... apSwitch=Y
It would be fun to meet some folks from south of here willing to come to this gathering and enjoy the fun.
Anyone from southern IL or MO willing to take a drive north?
Sites 120-126 are open and close to where everyone so far has booked!

It is pretty along the Miss River. Lori and I enjoyed a great spot with a relaxing view at Blackhawk Park by Desoto, WI, this past weekend. It too is a Army Corp of Engineer's Park. Saw a number of Eagles and was suprised the park was not completely packed.

September will be here soon. Looking forward to the gathering.

Betsey don't tell me the first three reasons you got into teaching was June, July and August!

We camped next to a special education teacher at Blackhawk Park. She had visited every WI SP and Recreation area, 53 in all if I recall and got her parks passport stamped at each in less than a years time.
