Has it hit anyone that this is just 6 weeks away ! As a life long hoosier The first 2 weeks of January are too dang cold to snow much. However, I will qualify that statement with " then again this is Indiana".

As I watch this thread unravel I can not help but think back to last years shivaree. Setting at the computer the Friday night before the planned outing and very early that Saturday morning double checking to be sure that Vickie & I would not be the only two loonies that would actually show up. Taking bets with myself as to when I would come to my senses and side betting on Which one of the other committed members would back out 1st.

Cold weather camping has many benefits. The biggest of which , in my opinion is that good hot soups and stews taste so much better. The woods look so clean with a little dusting of white. It is so quiet and having a state park almost to yourselves make you feel so special. The warmth of a big roaring campfire and the warmth of friends new and old. The bite and soothing warmth of a sip of good Burbon whiskey. (and a nip of Rap's "Apple pie " liqueor) . Having tested our little rigs and feeling so proud to be able to return from -15 wind chill to brag to others of our deliverance from mother nature.

I did not expect these things they just jumped out of the cold to become the most remembered part of the "Shivaree of 08" I would like to thank all of my fellow teardroppers, those who cheered us on, and especially my fellow participants. It is not something I would have attempted alone but I am so glad we were there.

Glad to here your thinking of making it. As Bob so well put it is very memorable and not as bad as one might think.

If you can't make it we're working on a joint gathering between the Buckeyes and the Hoosiers during the summer next year.

A map of Mounds
Sites 69-? are tree protected but aren't real level (not real bad though close to the PT)
sites ?-13 are tree protected and level but not real close to the PT, but not to far as it's not a real big campground.

Because there is no reservations taken and you book when you get there it will be the call of the first one to show up.

Any one wanna bet if it will be me or not

Where the live water spigot is may determine which sites are best. Do you know which one it is?

When I talked to the park on the phone she said there was one frost free one that stayed on along with the electricity. I'll have to call back and ask which one. I didn't ask and when I went in person there wasn't anyone around to ask.

What kind of odds are you giving on Scott's arrival time? Maybe we should start a pool.

If it's in 1/2 hour blocks I want from 45 minutes to 15 minutes before official sun set !
That way he won't have to set up by flashlight !

:)

Hey scott bring your insulation we can help you install it while we are there! We know how you are about last minute modifications.

Just havin' fun with ya ! :D

All taken in good fun

I'm sure I'll have the insulation in can't guarantee the new walls, Not sure how I want to re finish after I get the cabinets in. I sort of want to go real wood but want to keep it lite as I'm sure it's heavy enough.

They have a real nice rustic cedar paneling I might install sideways so the boards look like they're stacked. does that make since.

Also thought about, cause I have access to all kinds of red oak boards. Cutting them thin and making my own oak strip paneling, but that might run into some weight.

November and December have been colder than normal, that means that January will be warm and sunny !

That's my delusion and I am stickin' to it ! :D

However

Just in case I am fabricating a 3/4 foam blueboard insulating roof topper that will fold up for transport and I can toss on top of my Lexan roof and secure with an old quilted comforter for a little extra insulation. It was snowing in ours last January as the frost that formed inside fell on our heads.
