I think I have to drive to VA the second week in June from the KC area. Don't know yet how many hours my mom can ride so I am trying to find several campgrounds as close to I-64 as I can get. Would really appreciate any help you have.

Thanks a bunch. :)

In Indiana you've got Lincoln State park, only 8 1/2 miles south of 64 on 62/231, I'm gonna be down that way the second week of June myself not sure yet where I'm staying yet but I looked into that park. Looks nice and one of the guys I work with has stayed there and likes it.

Just my 2 cents

 That is a good spot. A bit close at 8 hours out but I am not sure how often we will have to stop. Thanks Scott!

We are leaving Lawrence KS probably on June 6th and then come back on the 13th. I guess I need a few more too. Might need to splint this into thirds.

O'bannon woods would put you a couple of hours further down the road and you could relax in their new swimming pool complete with water slides or take a float trip down the blue river in a canoe or kayak.

Thanks Mark. I doubt if we will get to play too much. Mostly relax and hopefully sleep... Mom and I don't rest well in motels so we are hoping this will be better. :D

Does anyone have any experience with the KOA that is East of Louisville? I am thinking on the trip back I need to stop further East. :?

Just don't stop at the one in Jeffersonville Its in a rough neighborhood and you would be sleeping under the interstate.

Thanks Mark. That must be the one we were going to stay at a bunch of years ago. We opted for a motel.........It really was noisey and run down looking.

Hi Auntie M, I just came through the I-64 corridor. There is a nice state park about an hour east of Lexington, KY. Try looking at Grayson Lake State Park for camping. It is 10 miles from the interstate but has all facilities including laundry on site. Great golf course adjacent to the campground. Also, Fishing is very nearby. Just a suggestion, have a great trip.

 Thank you very much Mike. I will look it up. Still planning. I have a two day itinerary and a three day itinerary. Just depends on how tired my mom gets...or me for that matter.......We are old folks.
