Cooler Near The Lake IV

Camping in the Midwest, including Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin & Kentucky. Also includes Buckeye, Hoosier and BlueGrass Tearjerker chapters

Postby gregp136 » Tue Apr 20, 2010 7:36 am

I (Greg) am home sick today from work. Laurie says its because I sam spending time on the teardrop rather than sleeping. We talked about it and agreed it would not be done. :(
The rush is over. Now we will see if I am well enough to go camping this weekend.

Greg, get well.

We just got back from Forrestville/Mystery Cave state park gathering in Minnesota. Had wonderful weather and met lots of awesome tear people. Great time.

Cooler by the Lake people are a hardy group and it looks like we will be tested again. Volcanoe dust is due to reach us this weekend and rain is in the forcast. The shelter will be a real plus again.

For those who are not familiar with Cooler by the Lake history, the first camp out was held at High Cliffs park on Lake Winnebago. It has been held at it's current location since the second outing. While this is one of the nicest parks the original intent, of Cooler, was to move to different locations. I'm sure that this will be a discussion this weekend as we plan next year's event. Come with ideas.

See you this weekend.

Site 18 is open as of 5 minutes ago, so anyone not reserved should jump in and grab it. Might be better to call in, not sure how quick their website updates site availability.

I wish we could make it, but we have to go to Missouri and show someone the definition of a property line... :x

We'll see some of you at Kankakee, and then some of you at the cookout this summer so keep an eye out for that post soon!

Tom,

I stand corrected. Are you going to be able to make it?

Weather forcast is rain late Friday, Saturday chance of showers, and rain on Sunday. With only a chance of rain on Saturday there has to be some great weather in there somewhere.

Hope to see you.

Made it back to work today, at least for part of the day, but still not up to 100%. After a long talk Laurie and I have decided it is better for us to skip this weekend and try to hit the next gathering. Andre/Kohler (used to be Terry Andre, until Kohler donated land to triple the size of the park) is only about an hour away, so we are hoping to find time to drop in on Sat. We will see.

Sorry all, we were looking forward to meeting all of you.

Greg (and Laurie),

You need to take care of yourself first. This weekend is looking to be another tough one. I enjoy sleeping in a tear when the weather is miserable, but this is not for everyone. The neat thing about "Cooler" is the get together on Saturday night where everyone has an opportunity to meet old and new friends and share good food. I'm bringing a good book for those times when I am confined to my tear and know that I will enjoy the whole experience.

Join us if you can and get better first as there will always be another opportunity to camp.

Trailer is packed ~ after the chill at night last weekend, I picked up a heating mattress pad and it better work ~ kindle is packed so if I end up chillaxing in the tear with rain, I can read and stay warm. That's all I need !!

I have my GG packed ~ so I can even go like the big boys {{{the lady teardropers will know what I mean}}}

I'll be arriving tomorrow afternoon and picked up a bottle of wine for the cheese and cracker night ~ can't wait. :wine:

I'm all packed as well. I don't know anything but rain there anyway so why stay home. We've had a great time in the past so I'm sure this year will be the same. As long as it's not raining for set up in the afternoon I'll be happy.
