Castle Rock County Park
Hwy. G
Mauston, WI 53948
608- 847-9389/608-847-7089
on Castle Rock Lake

From the West on I-90/94:

Take exit#61 at New Lisbon/Necedah. Turn left onto Hwy 80 and go over the Interstate.

Go about 2 miles on Hwy 80 to County A. Turn right on County A.

Go about 2.8 miles until the road makes a “T” at Hwy 58. Turn right (south) on Hwy 58.

Go about ½ mile on Hwy 58.

You will come to a BP gas station/store on your right and Hwy G on your left. Turn left onto Hwy G.
Go about 5 miles. The road will curve to the right. A big sign for Castle Rock County Park will be on your left at the curve. Turn left. The park will be the first road on your right. See “Once you arrive…” below.

From the East on I-90/94:

Take exit#69 at Mauston/Oxford. Turn left, onto Hwy 82 and go under the Interstate.

Once on Hwy 82, go to the 2nd set of lights, where the road makes a “T”. Turn right, onto Hwy 58, traveling north. You will pass K-Mart & Festival Foods on your right as you leave town and pass over the Interstate. Go about 5.8 miles on Hwy 58.

You will come to a BP gas station/store on your left and Hwy G on your right. Turn right onto Hwy G.
Go about 5 miles. The road will curve to the right. A big sign for Castle Rock County Park will be on your left at the curve. Turn left. The park will be the first road on your right.

*******
Once you arrive at the park, you will drive into the park and stop at the booth and get a self-registration card/envelope. From here on, driving is all one-way. Follow the signs that say “Area A,” “Beach,” “Picnic”. This means you are going towards the right. The road snakes around until you come to the bathrooms/shower building and concessions stand on the left and the “old” park office on the right. Straight ahead of you is “Area A” and several signs. One of those will be a “St. Croix Tearjerkers Welcome” banner. We set up in the area behind those signs. There is a tar road to the right and a dirt road to the left of this area. We camp in-between the roads. It is a bit back from the lake, but we like it because it can be rather chilly right on the lake.

Dennis & Faye will be cooking Garlic Roasted Potatoes. Should go good with that Buffalo Roast. OK, enuff, I'm getting hungry just typing this.

We're gonna leave on Tuesday morning from southern Minnesota, so that we can make a side trip to the "House on the Rock" just south of Castle Rock Park. Gonna camp a few days at Governer's Dodge State Park, then cruise on up to Castle Rock on Thursday Morning.

Can't wait to see everyone, and of course, all the cool campers.

Thanks Camp-Inn for a great time. I got there after the rain and had nothing but perfect weather the whole weekend. It was nice to see old friends again and meet many new old friends. I'm sorry I had to leave early but it is now half time and the Packers are winning. I hope to see all of you again some where, some time.
Happy camping

Thanks Camp-inn for another great weekend of fun-filled camping. :applause:
Couldn't have asked for any better...the weather held up for us and the evenings were prefect for camp fires. :campfire:

recipe

Postby tjx » Mon Sep 28, 2009 12:22 pm

Mike (and any others who would like it),
this can easily be cut in half and cooked in an 8" DO.

Here is the recipe for:

Dutch Oven Apple Crisp

filling:
2 cans apple pie filling
1/2 cup chopped nuts

topping:
1 1/2 c flour
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
12 tbsp butter

Pour 2 cans pie filling into 12" Dutch Oven.
In bowl cut 12 tablespoons butter into dry ingredients of topping mixture.
Sprinkle on top of apple pie finlling.
Top with nuts.
Cook 1 hour with 12 coals on top and 6-8 on bottom. Rotate lid and pan
every 15 minutes.

Enjoy

Thanks again Camp-inn for the great time. The weather was much better than predicted.

We hit a deer on the way home and it really beat up the side of the van and tore off the axel on the new teardrop . We are all safe but still shook-up. The trailer is still in Eau Claire getting worked on.

Thanks Camp Inn for yet another great gathering. Great food, weather and friends as always. Was great seeing old friends and meeting new ones.
Lori..... Sorry to hear your baby TD got hurt on the way home, but glad you all are ok.

Everyone watch for my "For Sale" posting and pass the word. Hate to part with my little TD but just want something a little bigger.

Heheh... sounded like fun.

Wish we could have joined you all.
I'm sure there are some from the PNW that would have liked to make it there...
Maybe in the future... thanks for sharing the photos...

Meanwhile, we'll hold down the fort here in the PNW...

Looked like fun...
