Rich, that looked like a good gathering. The stream looked so "cold" and the coffee next the fire looked so warm.
Quite a contrast.
Glad everyone enjoyed it and survived.

Wish I could have been there. Had the trailer hooked to the truck today, but it was the wrong trailer (5x14) loaded with furniture. I will get to a gathering this year, Lord willing and the creek don't rise.

Hey Bob! What’s this I hear about you locking your keys in your truck at the Shivaree? I may be wrong but I thought that you needed to keep your keys OUTSIDE a locked truck.
What happened...too cold for the brain to operate? Just kidding.

Hope you made it home okay after that. See you in the spring.

Oh sh** the word is out !

Here is "the rest of the story" To start with we know it's all Vickies fault! She insisted I lock up the truck since her purse was in there. Sounded logical to me so O.K. In the process she insists I live my big bulky polar coat in the truck. I bitched and moaned that it would be stone cold the next morning when I put it back on. She moaned it would take up too much room in the trailer. I countered with it could be concidered an extra blanket. In short I lost with the mom stare so I took it off and tossed it in the truck and dutifully locked the door. Settled down in the trailer after changing into my sweatpants I wondered if my truck keys were in my pants pocket. Started twice to look but knew if they wern't there I would not sleep , so I chose simply to not look and take my lumps in the morning. If I had truly been that stupid that would be soon enough to find out. At 5:00 am I decided to get up and stoke up the campfire. I reached into my pants pocket after putting them on and my worst fears were confirmed. I had on a long sleve heavy cotton tee shirt and rooting around in the tote box stored out in the cold I found a crew neck sweat shirt and a hooded sweatshirt. It would have to do! With 2 standie trailers in our group I was hoping one might have a closet with a coat hanger in it so I could attempt to unlock the truck door. About 7 :30 - 8:00 AM the neighbors started to stir and finally migrated to the fire. I confessed my stupidity and the project of the day became how to break into Bob's truck. Mr.Ranger came by and offered a slim jim tool used to unlock cars. We played with it for about an hour everyone taking turns at "the fun". Cold and aggrivated I asked Jennifer ,one of our camping buddies, to used one of her tech savy gadgets to get a couple listings for locksmiths.

RIGHT a locksmith as 8AM on a Sunday morning. ROTS A RUCK.


I am still waiting for the 1st one to call back the second was just heading out to church but offered me the number of a nice young fella. I called Ben Johnson's Affordable lock and key and painted a real sad picture of me slowly dying of hypothermia and in desperate need. He was there in 45 minutes. He had his hands full with the locked truck but after some careful study and trying several lock tripping tools in several different configurations we heard that oh so sweet little click. Say what you want and tease me if you must but I wouldn't wish you to be out in single didgit temps in a couple sweat shirts slowly rotating near the roaring campfire trying to keep both sides warm at once. Would I go again???
Let me think about it thru the summer and I will let you know about this time next year.

Bob, Sorry to hear of your troubles with the keys. Defiantly picked the wrong vehicle to do that with. One of the equipment operators at work done the same thing with his dodge p/u and finally had to get a ride to retrieve his spare keys. If it were a ford ranger i could have slim jimed it in about 15 seconds. Those newer dodges are nearly impenetrable!

Hey Bob, look on the bright side. At least you didn't have a shredded tire of loose lug nuts this time.

Seems like you've graduated from wheels to keys.

I know it's not that funny ...especially when it's cold out and on a Sunday too.

Just another outing for us....

It wouldn't be an adventure if something stupid
didn't happen to me..

Did I mention the stolen digital camera.....

Or my senior moment when I took 38 east at Noblesville
and headed south. I guess I was headed to lake summit
or white water Park or God only knows where.

Oh back to the camera... Vickie was watching her
3 year old grandson David on Friday night. Seems
he likes shiney silver things and for some reason she
let him play with the camera. When daddy arrived to
pick him up he slipped it into his extra clothes bag
and headed home with it. This all happened minutes
before we were planning to depart for our camping trip .

Remembering the camera at the last minute we
searched the house for 45 minutes and finally gave up.
Vickie decided to call Daddy an "just check"

Yep that was where it was.
