CNTL V potluck lists (three events)--with added Ode to Spam

Postby tearhead » Mon Apr 04, 2011 6:17 pm

Hi--I hope this won't be too confusing! We'll probably have enough people to make planning kind of unnecssary, but just in case, we can do a little coordinating. If nothing else, it will prevent us from having absolutely every dish appear in a dutch oven (fun though that is!).

All communal meals will be in the shelter near our campsites, sounds like. Plan on bringing your own glass, plate, etc. as well as any serving utensils needed for your dish.

First event: Friday night wine/other beverage/snackathon. I don't know that we need to be all that organized about this but bring either a snack or a beverage. If you want to let the group know what you're bringing, that's fine, but not necessary in particular.

Second Event: Saturday breakfast. Just bring one item--we had way too much food last year! Here is what people brought last year:

Waffles/Pancakes
Toppings--Fruit Toppings, Syrup, Whipped Cream
Scrambled eggs
Other breakfast main dishes -
Bacon -
Fried potatoes -
Fruit-
Sausage links -
Condiments
Creamer -
Sugar -
Several salt & peppers -
Breakfast Breads
Bagels & Cream Cheese -
Coffeecake
Coffeemaker & coffee
Variety of Juices -

Saturday Night Potluck

Appetizers
Main Dishes
Side Dishes
Salads
Breads
Desserts
Embellishments (Not sure what that means? Doilies, perhaps?:)

I'll try to collate everything as we go.

Thanks for doing this Pat....

For breakfast I will make fried potatoes and bring Orange juice.

Dinner...If someone makes a side dish that would go with London Broil, I will grill 2 flank steaks. If not I will chime in at the end after seeing what others are bringing.

This is a fun outing so if you have not reserved a site....HURRY!

I think I have a compliment to flank steak. Loaded mashed potatoes. Inspired by loaded baked potatoes, but a whole lot easier to serve at a pot luck.

For Friday night, I will bring some of my local market's Garlic Summer Sausage.

I can do pancakes for breakfast again.

ADDENDUM--Your dish doesn't have to serve the whole crowd--maybe about six servings would be about right--there will be plenty.

My plan...

Friday: Bob Henry's Apple Pie (this is a beverage) and tortilla roll-ups

Saturday Breakfast: Link sausage

Saturday Supper: I'm thinking Caesar salad with bacon and bowtie pasta (but could be persuaded to bring sweet potato casserole)

I see that Doug and Nan have called dibs on scrambled eggs in the other thread, so I'll add that to the list.

A few years back, Brwbier (Bob) signed up to bring some of his home brew...I thought we needed a "special" category for it & "Embellishements" was born! (At that time, there wasn't a Friday evening adult drink night).

It's also a good place for things that don't quite fit in any other food category - like a fruit basket! (another year's "embellishment" )

OK !! I figured it out . . . .

Friday Night - the same snack I was going to prepare last year at CNTL but couldn't because it rained (I put it in one of those styrofoam icechests with a Blue Ice thing so it should still be good)

Saturday Morning - the same thing I was going to prepare last year at CNTL but couldn't because it RAINED (it's in the same ice chest as the snack . . . )

Saturday dinner - the same main course I was going to prepare last year at CNTL but couldn't because it RAINED and RAINED and RAINED (it's in a different ice chest with TWO Blue Ices so I'm sure it's been ok all this time)

Can't wait !!

Yeah . . . well I got dibs on those three things first Jean, so if you copy me, people are going to know . . . And this "Cool Lake People Who Get Wet " (CLPWGW) crowd are a bunch of tough people and they'll give you a really hard time.

The new "Camp Inn" can only protect you up to a point.

Oh, Mike & his Haute Cusine are famous!

Here are his appetizers for TBR2...I also seem to remember something about "chipmunk on a stick" and "jackalope something or other..."

"Exotic French Hare/Canadian Goose Pate and organic multigrain cracker snack or something similar . . .
