Crossroads of America Caravans

Postby starleen2 » Thu Jun 30, 2011 9:58 pm

Well folks the date is rapidly approaching as we get closer to the crossroads of America gathering. We’re planning to stop overnight at the Hayti / Portageville KOA in Portageville, Missouri along Interstate 55 then push the rest of the way to arrive at the campgrounds on Thursday. I guess it time to start planning on the caravan. What are the routes that some of you are going to take ;)

What's your route to Portageville? I'll be leaving So. AR Wed morning and traveling thru Little Rock and then up US 67 towards that area. Not really wanting to take I40 to W Memphis and then I55 up. I just saw the I40 route Monday.

I'll be following I40 till I get to W. Memphis then head north on Interstate 55 until it joins interstate 57. My plan is to follow I 57 until it hits I 70 and follow to Terre Haute. Then it's Just a short Jump to Spencer. The stop at Portageville is about halfway for us ;)

Scott, we'll be on I-70 the whole way from Topeka but we MAY hook up with you at Effingham, Illinois where I-70/I-57 meet up but I'm not making any promises. Our stop over is going to be about 20 miles outside of St. Louis in Illinois at a rest area. We'll see.....

We always stop at Portageville too.Not much there..oh and watch your speed just as you enter IL. John got a ticket there a few yes ago ..lol :x and it seems to take forever to get to 70 on 57..but very nice Roads and two nice rest areas along the way.

We live just outside of Terra haute so we dont have to far to go . :D Maybe 30 to 45 min drive if that far.?..
Hope you all have a safe trip! see you all there!

We may hit I-70 east of Effingham around 1:30 p.m. Friday, but my guess is we'll go east on IL 50 and take Indiana 67 up to Spencer.

A litte late to be asking, but anyone have college-age kids coming along? My daugther is afraid she'll be the only 21-year-old.

Put her on an AmTrak. We've had to do that more than once. 8)
