That's great Rob, glad you and Nancy can make it. :applause: We can all get better aquainted at a smaller gathering. There is one thing that you need to know about some of the regulars. We eat too well at gatherings.
Just thought an FYI would be in order.

Dear Doug...

After seeing your avatar, I suspected that if I hung out at your camp I wouldn't ever go hungry... ;)

Eating good food is one of the many joys of attending a gathering.
Thanks for the warning!

Hey, that's great, Gary and Cheri, we look forward to seeing you both again. This time will be less hectic. We should be able to visit more. Plus we need to show Rob how well we eat!

I could see a dutch oven share on both Friday and Saturday night. I have also been dying to make an attempt at morning doughnut making. I foresee a diet after this meet.

I would like to do a one pot steamed dinner on Thursday, if Fri. & Sat. are spoken for. I did this a few years back when Nan's cousins came from Ireland.

Gary, I will be third in line, for your first attempt at doing donuts. You should have it perfected after, maybe two trys. ;)

Doug :D

Did you ever try frying the refrigerated biscuits that come in the cardboard containers from the store? Those cook up nice, use a pastry bag to fill em with
jelly or ?? and roll em in sugar. My $0.02

Hello All !!
It's Been awhile, how is everyone?
I am getting my grocery list together for the Thursday night steamed dinner. I count 11 people, I may be wrong, site 79 is reserved, I was wondering if someone from the TJ group has reserved it and not let us know. I do not want to leave anyone out, if you reserved site 79 please let us know how many
will be attending.

Lets start the Friday & Saturday Pot Luck List, if that is still the plan. We have approx 17 people to feed. Make a dish that will feed about 6- 8 people, that will give everyone plenty to eat without too much left over.

Steve & Gary here is where the donuts were mentioned!

Donuts, waffels and eggs sound good so far, I will make eggs if thats ok with you. I will try to find some slab bacon too. :)

Steamed Dinner

Postby pigcooker » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:06 pm

O.K. here is what a steamed dinner is.

Take a 40 qt. pot and put in a gallon of liquid (water or beer), a cooking grate is then suspended over the liquid and then layer in:

Carrots
Potatoes
Onions
Cabbage
Bell Peppers
Fresh Sausage (Polish, Italian, Brats...whatever you want)
Smoked Butt slices (optional)
Corn on the Cobb halves
Smoked Sausage (Polish, Kielbasa, Andouille)
Celery
Zucchini
Bring to a boil, lower the heat and steam for 40 minutes. Chow down!

This is a variation of the garbage can dinner or cream can dinner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jk4at5oCs7gu

I do it differently but you get the idea from the video. It's just layering and steaming a bunch of vegetables and meat in one pot!!

Sounds great Doug....I will start saving room right now! If you would like, I can make an appetizer for Thursday night while we watch you cook. Need help chopping?. I will make waffles for Saturday breakfast. Eggs would be great...cause I can't promise the quality of the waffles. I'm sure Gary's donuts will be great! I have 2 WI's so I should be able to keep up.
Still searching for a Saturday dish. I will post asap.

Looking forward to seeing everyone, we will have a great time!
