We're coming to the Shivaree

Postby thesiilvermineandhis » Tue Jan 10, 2012 12:52 pm

Tom and Ella Brown will be arriving Friday by 5:00 and staying two nights. We got a new trailer -- 4" longer than our TAB, but hoping we're still tiny enough to be considered TINY! Bringing big pot of Ham & Beans (15 bean variety) and cornbread muffins for Saturday pitch-in.

Friday night

Postby thesiilvermineandhis » Wed Jan 11, 2012 5:55 pm

Well, we may have to cancel Friday night and come Saturday if the roads are clear. Right out of no-where we are supposed to get ice, small snow accumulation Thrursday night into Friday. We'll leave whenever roads are clear, which isn't looking good in NW Ohio. DARN. I'm going to packed and ready to leave whenever . . . Ella & Tom

Went to work feeling tired today. By noon my throat was sore and by 5 it was clear I have the flu.

Friday is out for sure, maybe Saturday if I can kick this thing in time.

I'd say at this point Friday's looking iffy for us too. Right now the band of snow might be anywhere from 2-5" Thursday through Friday morning. Hopefully everything will be good to go Saturday morning!

Well, so far we are still planning on Friday, but if the roads are bad, we will delay for a day. Just in case we make it and are the first ones there, which loop of sites were were looking at?

I just ordered enough snow to make it pretty :roll:

What's a shivaree without a dusting of snow ? We
have gotta have snow in the pics for our California
and Florida friends on the forum :lol:

There is no mention of snow activity after very early
A.M. Friday so roads should be clear and each day
this weekend gets better and better.

I am still gonna make it Friday. Timing is still iffy
but will be there with a big load of firewood.

Blotto you need some "Hot Apple Pie" with a shot
of everclear in it.
It's guaranteed to cure a cold and flu bug
( and if it don't after 3 or 4 who the hell cares )

Ha Ha :?

A friend said almost the same thing last night...and left me a 1/2 quart of his best moonshine.

PS...his recipe for apple pie is 1/2 quart moonshine, 1 gallon apple juice and several Cinnamon sticks. I am sure yours is better!!

This batch was

1 gallon apple juice
1/2 gallon Apple cider
1 cup white and 1 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp clove
1 heavy tablespoon of powdered cinnimon.

(May add a bit more cinnamon when heated we'll see!)

Had about a pint left over in the fridge so I
had a small glass of it last night it had a great
taste :thumbsup:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
For my own special cough and cold preventative I will add a little dab of this to my "pie"
AMERICAN HONEY
Wild Turkey Liqueur
Image
A bourbon-based liqueur, Wild Turkey brings out the best flavors of our premium bourbon, but with real honey to give it a sweetness that's hard to resist. The palate is a bit like syrup and glides around the mouth with obvious notes of vanilla and citrus.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The "apple pie" will be served hot and without any "antifreeze" so all can enjoy. It is a bit like a sweet version of hot mulled cider. All I know is it will warm up your innerds with or without the addition of your own personal choice of octane boosters.

UPDATE
I had to taste test the American Honey combo I only have one thing to say
after 5 tastings..................

OMG !

With the weather, and having never been to Turkey Run before, I think we may be begging off for Friday night. Getting everything together to leave tomorrow afternoon was going to be tight anyway with the way my week has been going. We will however be over early in the day on Saturday.
