How about having a "REAL" wine tasting on Friday?

We could separate the Reds, Whites and Sweet wines and make up a score sheet for the judges.

You could "rate" the wine(s) on a 1 thru 4 scale (best to worst) and see which one fares the best.

The tasting could be limited to (4) wines of each flavor or color.

My wife and I did this at our "Dinner group" party with interesting results.

We also rated the wines on "price". That was even more interesting.

What are the general thoughts about this? Speak up and be heard.

 Should this be a blind taste test so that you're not swayed by the fact that it's a cheap wine like Boones Farm. Could be poured into little number marked cups, I'm thinking it could be interesting

I dunno. The stuff that comes in boxes is pretty "affordable" as well....

Scott, not everyone needs to participate but, we did it as a blind test. We had "numbered and noted brown bags" over each bottle (red or white) and had numbered cups for each wine.

Also score sheets for each contestant were available. Not everyone liked all Reds or all Whites so the judging didn't include all of the wines.

It was interesting to see the results. It could be a fun diversion from the typical "meet and greet" that we usually have.

The finger food works as a good pallet cleansing so the wine taste is "new" for each wine.

Still provides a "meet and greet atmosphere as well as relaxing way to enjoy the Friday night evening.

Could be fun and relaxing as well.

I saw a show on tv...ultimate cheapskates. He solved the problem by draining the boxes into fine wine bottles he got from a local restaurant....they just left them outside! Good as new he said....

OMG!

Gerry, I did a similar thing with beer many years ago. Back when it was a challenge to afford a "good Dark Beer", I would mix "Old Milwaukee" with a couple of ounces of a real dark beer like Guinness or Becks Dark.

It looked a lot better and tasted better (just because it looked better , I guess). It made a 4 pack of good dark beer last a lot longer.

Hey, it worked for me....

If we're going to resort to official tasting, maybe we should have an official tasting tear? something Bob H or Dan could whip up:

Maybe I should go ahead and install the keg and tapper and a wine rack in the chuckwagon. I already have the wine glass rack.
