What area do you plan on setting up in? Are the restrooms open? I assume electricity is available too...or should I bring my genny?

Electric is on!

Vault toilets only

you need cash for off season camping fee. The ranger will be around to collect. Was about $ 12.00 +/-. Try and have close to correct change.

Summit lake doesn't have vault toilets....I don't remember them, and there aren't any on the map....

Hmm....

Go down the list of amenities till you get to toilets vault/pit they are on the list I never noticed they are not shown on the campground map but they really really do exist.

Off the top of my head, I sure can't remember exactly where the vault toilets are. There might be some near the tent camping, but I don't remember any in the two campground electric areas.

 Maybe they bring in portable-style vault toilets and sit them next to the regular restrooms when the weather gets too cold to prevent the water pipes from freezing.

(And, no, I'm not driving halfway across the nation in rain, snow, ice, etc, to freeze my "Ahem" while camping. ...I'm just a nosy ol' critter...TeeHee!)

Yes there are vault toilets. We even put a propane heater in one a few years ago when the temp really dropped!
I am still on if I do not have to travel to Ill on Sat.

I don't remember vaults anywhere in main loops....and definitely not in the open grassy areas, which is the only place I'd stay. The tree lined area at summit is really muddy and uneven with huge aggregate (rock) for pads...and that's in the summer. In the winter/rainy season it's got to be a mud pit.

Summit lake ... It's my least favorite park I've been to yet..anywhere...it needs a lot of attention to turn it into a decent stay. The wooded sites are On mostly low ground and uneven in loop A, and Loop B has better terrain, but the sites are odd shaped and smaller.

Of course it's all still a question of salty roads and bad weather. I'm not dragging Serenity out into toxic conditions.
