Gerry, you were at the fall 2014 gathering (I think). They had the best firewood I've seen inside the parks.

All of the Ash trees that were cut down were sold to the campers as firewood.

They used to just pile it up and burn it. Whoever decided to sell to the campers is a genius. (or just has some "common sense")

Come to think of it, the wood at Starve Hollow might have been the best deal. Remember Darrel, the wood keeper. He would sell you an extra bundle for a discounted price. I'm sure the park didn't know that he did that. There were several signs near the wood saying that no "cash" transactions were to take place at the wood barn. Darrel had a pretty good thing going . I wonder what he's doing now?

I remember Darrel. I also remember the guy at the main gate telling me to watch out for Darryls dealings :). He's probably better know as "the hero of Canton" by now :) (hat tip: Firefly)

Im looking for a place to buy wood which has the usda sticker....I'm tired of $15 a day extra for a decent fire. A $5 rate hike is bad, but the wood is just ridiculous.
