We were at the Spring Fling at Raccoon hollar NC two weeks ago and the pot luck was made up of small side dishes and a community fire pit for cooking your main meal for yourself. We made pork, some others made burgers, dogs, steak, whatever. It turned out quite well. One of the better pot lucks Darla & I attended. I know all things that are listed now sound wonderful, but here is another option if you want to make your own main? I can't beleive in two weeks it will be on the road to ADK.

There is a camping store nearby, and a town not that far away, maybe 5 miles, which should have a decent grocery store... looks to have a population of maybe 4,000 people.

Hi to all ! sorry We have not been in touch earlier..I woke from winter to find the teardrop had not weathered well.. I ended up stripping all the paint to bare wood, refinishing the entire thing from Expoxy sealer to 2 coats of new marine paint..Well, we could not wait to try it out so we went camping in Normandy Farms Family campground..It was great but to our dismay Laura was not a happy camper :( ! We had trouble with her using different bathrooms all last year, but thought it would pass..Our week in Mass, with Laura refusing to use the bathroom for 3 hours while we sat there waiting her out, made up our minds that we had to either stop camping  ! or get a traveltrailer with a toilet.. We decided to go shopping as soon as we returned from our trip and bought a small trailer that is fully contained.. We are still planning on coming and cant wait to get there and see everyone... I will be making my not so famous Chili !
It is a Chili receipe that I found that has no beans and is served over pasta...I guess it is based on a Cincinnati restaurant's version. Well we will see you soon...If there are any flags left, but us down for one... I just got on line and saw what was going on :o Tom Mary & Laura
PS Lets have all sunshine this year 8)

Glad its all working out Tom/Mary.

Flag should be no problem.. we ordered a few extras.

We're supposed to be down Fish Creek way this weekend to drop off our boat (depending on the weather).. might pop over to shovel the last snow off the sites! (just kidding!). :D

I'm keeping an eye on the weather.. its been a less than perfect spring, but we are bound to have sun right? So far long range forecast is mainly sunny/park cloudy on Thru Jun 15th.

Has anyone heard from Norm? Haven't seen him on here in months, and he isn't currently signed up for the TearUp...

Norm you there??

Postby Finntec » Tue Jun 06, 2006 5:00 pm

We can't believe its only a week away. We thought we would wait and see whats missing from the pot luck dinner and fill in the blanks. Or dare I say, "Are there any special requests?" -Ray & Debby

FYI I do have quite a lot of venison still.

Ah.. yes thats right Tom... you're going to be partying it up all the week prior!

No doubt we'll stop in, we'll be at our place in Lake Placid for a few days, doing some boating and such, then dropping it off just north of Fish Creek on the way home.. probably Monday. At this point I'd say we'll be over there on Monday. We may come down a day early (ie next Thursday) for the TearUp if the weather is lookin good.

Ray we have never had Venison... break us in!

Yes, that venison sounds goooooood. I haven't had it in years. Now that Darla has taught me how to count days, I'll play it safe and say only a few more days until we leave to go to Fish Creek.

Steve,

It has rained 26 out of 28 days as of late.... the skys are now almost empty and sunshine is just around the corner (true). TomS is the only one who will be enjoying the rain.... we will all be basking in the joy of sunnyness by Thursday.

We are physed!!!

How is everyone doing on their camp signs??

We have great prizes in store this year. Picking up the camp flags tommorrow morning.

PS. We just got out of the hot tub here at the Whiteface Lodge in Lake Placid, enjoying the sweet sounds of ADK frogs and the mountain mist.

Can't wait to enjoy the smell of camp fires again!

Cheers
