Thanks Dave and Kate, for the nice weekend. You are great hosts. Thanks everyone, for the great meal and the fire-side chats. I'm looking forward to the next Tear Up/Down.

Yeah! What a blast!

We had a great time meeting everybody and "touring" all the teardrops and tiny trailers. Many thanks to Dave and Kathy for putting it all together and to everyone else for all the great food and comradeship. We hope to do it again soon!
It was hard to leave the lakeside in that great sunny weather Monday, but the ride home was nice...Mexican food in Lake Placid, a tour of Ft. Ticonderoga, and a ferry across Lake Champlain. R-Fort (our little teardrop) was the main attraction on the ferry with the other passengers, they were lining up for tours. This is gonna be fun!

We had the good misfortune to have to cancel our Thursday arrival (family graduation thing) and arrived Saturday, just in time for the last of the bad weather.. and the arrival of several very nice days. We both had a very enjoyable gathering experience and got to bore an entirely new group of people with our old stories......./g/

On the way home, we stopped at one of the interstate rest stops and a couple came over, talked with us for a while. They gave us their business card and said if we were ever in their area, to stop in and stay at their place.

Having a tear is kind of like having a puppy, I guess... everyone seems to trust us.....

The downside was we left an area where I could see no cars ahead nor behind and came back to our home state where we can see nothing but cars.... anyway, looking forward to Mystic...

Forgot to mention, on Monday night as we were wrapping up our last campfire chat, we saw a meteor fireball... not one of those wimpy shooting stars, this thing was about as big as a dime held at arms length, short wide tail, and amazingly bright. Lasted about 3 seconds.

Then it crashed into the lake... well, not our lake...

But, it was a sight to behold. A fitting finish to our upper NY state campout.

What amazed me was that you could hear it crackle as it came down!

Had a great extra day at Fish Creek Ponds with Arne & Shirley and Alan & Leslie. The latter invited me to join them at Golden Beach CG on Raquette Lake, which I did and it was also lovely. Then proceeded down to Hickory Run SP in PA for the TearJerker's Gathering. But now, alas, I'm home, and teardrop time is over for now.

The AC is nice though... 8)

Good to see old friends and meet new ones at both gatherings!

Back Home

Postby Al-Les-Palace » Sat Jul 09, 2005 10:42 am

We arrived back in Ohio this past Wed evening after 16 nights of teardropping and a visit over the 4th with Leslie's mom in Connecticut.

We really enjoyed the Tearup and meeting, talking, and paddling with everyone.

We are definitely interested in another Fish Creek outing next summer. Unfortunately, we can't make the Labor Day Mini as Leslie is back teaching.

We were the last to pull out a few minutes after Arne and Joseph.

Attaching a few farewell photos

ADK Spring Tearup (Ver 1.01)

Postby Al-Les-Palace » Sat Jul 09, 2005 11:07 am

Joseph, Sarah, Leslie, and Alan kept the spirit going for a few more days at Golden Beach Campground on Raquette Lake.

I guess it was Version 1.01

A few photos:

Alan, very nice pictures... and good memories..

But, need a tear-fix, so am heading to mystic next weekend..... and then, hopefully, every weekend in August will be busy.....

Parts are on order for the chop, but nothing in the mail box, yet.. boat fan coming from UK, to give it an international flavor.... I did it in photoshop this a.m.... and have the work plan pretty much in place....

Hi all,

Nice photos! Glad to see a few of you keep things going! Sorry I have not posted photos as of yet... Kate and I redid the TearUp the following week (ie Thurs thru Sunday evenings) just down the path at bit at site 178. We looked for you guys as I guess you probably left Wed. We had a great time and had some great weather on the following week.

We have just returned from another trip to Fish Creek (7 nights) so we are sporting fine teardropper type tans. We also discovered our 'dream home' while in the neighbourhood and we soon be a part owner at a new resort in Lake Placid... so were much in the clouds right now.

We're off 'resorting' this weekend, but perhaps next week I can get those photos up.

Not sure if we'll be planning a Spring TearDown or not yet which we were thinking of for Labour Day weekend. Maybe if anyone interested can post here we can see how much interest there is.

We'll be camping at Moffit Beach State Park (NY) Aug 19 and 20th. Diane and Rick (TearUp TearDough winners) will also be joining us, so any others in the neighbourhood at that time let us know!

Well I hear it might rain... we better get back out camping!!!
