So here is a question. Wyoming has high wind warnings and I can't remember is it only high profile vehicles that need to pull over or do all trailers including teardrops.
Looks like I can make it just a bit nervous driving that far alone, but that makes it more of an adventure

Wyoming is always windy, but we traveled around the state for 2 weeks in 2012 and never had any trouble pulling the teardrop.

EDIT..... Mike sent me an email this morning and asked that I pass along that the winds in WY are strongest in the Spring and Fall and you should not worry about pulling your teardrop. He did say bring a rain coat as they are having a very wet season. Now that can still change, but the upside is that the extra rain will help keep the forest fires down and that means clear skies and great pictures. So bring your cameras. :pictures:

Awww, I 'm going to miss the gathering, guys. I spent my vacation money on most of a week in the hospital last month. I was hoping to still make it work, but the bills are trickling in now and there's just no way. I have "good" insurance through my job, but it's still rough with co-pays, deductables, and dis-alloweds. $>

For the record, I'm fine now, but the day I went in I felt awful. From noon on I couldn't eat or drink, and what I had eaten and drunk earlier just seemed to sit in my stomach (an accurate description, it turns out). By dinner I was in real pain and took myself off to the ER, suspecting all the while that they would tell me that I had gas or at worst food poisoning. Whatayaknow, they immediately sent me for a cat scan and diagnosed a bowel obstruction. Seems I have some scar tissue from a couple of abdominal surgeries 10 and 15 years ago, and that scar tissue finally blocked things up. :o They didn't want to do any more surgery to remove the blockage because more scar tissue would form, so I spent 4 nights, 5 days getting absolutely nothing by mouth (not even ice chips!), with tubes draining my system, waiting for the blockage to "resolve" itself. I was walking the hallways, trying to get things moving, getting in and out of bed, the nurses even taught me to unhook and reattach all of my own tubes. But they kept me in the ICU the whole time because of the risk of rupture or necrotizing tissue around the block. After they got my pain under control I felt like a fraud though, HUNGRY, but a fraud.

The kids spent the week with their grandpa, worked like serfs, ate like kings. It's amazing how much money I saved on groceries!

Eventually things moved on, so to speak, and I was turned loose. Yay! But they still have ahold of my wallet. Waaa!

Okay, I'll start saving again for next year. Hope you all have fun, though!

Catherine, I am sorry for your health problems and what it costs now days to get better. But you did get better so it's all good. Hopefully you can make a future gathering feeling fine with a fat wallet to boot!

Hello All,

The TD was delivered three weeks ago and I've been out in it for three nights - Curt Gowdy State Park, Wyoming. Absolutely love it and
will be out again. next week for 4 nights.
Unfortunately, I will have to cancel my attendance at the Walk the Winds Gathering as I have to be
at a board meeting in Washington D.C. and, as much as I love that city, I really would rather be in the coolness
of the Wind River Range with you all. I will enjoy hearing about how wonderful a time you all have and see
some photos.

Well Laura, congrats on the new trailer. We are caravaning to the gathering and may stop at Curt Gowdy on the way. We did in 2012. I'll wave to you as we go by. Hope to see you in the future.

Bruce, I will put you on the Maybe list.

Well, I couldn't get the Friday off work. I really wanted to come out, but there just wouldn't be enough time for me enjoy the trip. 10 to 12 hours of driving for work followed by 15 hours to the gathering just won't work. I'll have to try again next year. You all have fun.

OK, no more cancellations! Is it something we said. Slow is coming for all 3 days this year. He already has the bosses blessing. With Slow off the board now and me not coming back for at least a few years there may not be a next year, unless Slow returns or someone else organizes it. Will, (Sagebrush) has moved to the warmth of NM and he was a big help. He still is planning on coming this year, but who knows in the future. There has been plenty of rain, so forest fires should not be a problem, making for great pictures :pictures: and gas is at a reasonable price.

So for any of you fence sitters that have expressed interest in attending the gathering, this is something to think about. There is no time like the present.

If that "maybe Fred ....Idaho" is me, then it should be Montana not Idaho but no big deal.

Will be closing up the last of the sleeping part of the build real soon, so exterior canvas & paint won't be too long. Then just need to build the doors to make it weather tight. Getting that much done by late July should be possible but will let you know for sure when my ship comes in
