La Cygne in May?

Postby Darren » Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:09 am

I have every weekend off except for the 31st so I thought I'd see if anyone was interisted in trying out La Cygne, Kansas. Post up what dates work for you and lets see if we can't get a little get together organized. :applause:

Darren, I've been sick for the last week and once my cold/allergies abate, I'd be glad to do something. I planned to go to Watkins Mill last weekend and, with the the weather being dicey and not feeling well, I bailed.

That being said, I have Cabin Fever real bad and want to get out. Plus, with the price of gas being what it is, something close, like La Cynge, is very tempting.

Sounds good Bill. I had to work last weekend so couldn't go to Watkins Mill. I love going to new places to camp but I'll be staying closer to home this year unless gas goes way down. $55 to fill up the Blazer. I picked up a cold this week myself. It's been going around the office so I knew it was just a matter of time.

I sure with I could join you..... but already planning on Lake Tenkiller next weekend May 9-11 .... then kids graduation the next weekend, then Memorial Day but I'll likely be leaving that Mon or Tues for ColumbusGA and my oldest son's basic training graduation and to see him before he goes to AIT in Norfolk for four more weeks.

Y'all have fun... I'll definitely be ready to camp again around late June.
Some things are way over my head !! ...but it keeps me looking UP!

I took a drive out to La Cygne lake yesterday. Pretty nice area and the park was very clean. I should have stopped at the bath house but I didn't think about it at the time. There is a sign on one of the bath houses about a wifi hotspot but I didn't try it out either. I liked the campsites that are along the shoreline but really any of them would work.

Here's a link to the park.

I think I'll head out to Hillsdale Lake near Paola KS this Saturday 5/17. It's close to home and it looks like this weekend will be nice. I got cabin fever. I'm up for La Cynge over Memorial Day as well.

Hey

If you don't mind a non-tear owner going; the wife and kids have been wanting to go camping and LaCygne sounds like a nice area. Maybe I could get some bigfoot activity in. Let's pick a weekend. 8)

Why hasn't anyone found a dead bigfoot? When was the last time you found a dead deer, bear, coyote, fox, squirrel, etc. that died in the woods.........Hmmm.

Bill - What area are you planning on staying at Hillsdale? I fished there years ago but never camped.

I'm going to plan on the 23rd and 24th for LaCygne. If everything works out I'll stay over on the 25th and 26th also.

I'm supplying trophies for a car show on the 31st so I need to make sure I have 45 trophies in Detroit by that date. I've been working on them so it shouldn't be a problem.

Pete and family. - Come on down!

I'm not sure where I'll be. Kansas parks don't take reservation so I'll probably take what's available. I only plan on Saturday night . I'll probably get there around 1 or 2.

There are two campgrounds:
- Scott Creek (electric)
- Rabbit Ridge (primitive)

Last year, both times I camped there, the Scott Creek electric sites were pretty full. However, the Rabbit Ridge non-electric sites were nearly empty.

For only one night, I don't need an electric hookup so Rabbit Ridge will be fine for me. It's right off the main road to the Marina. I'm sure you'll see me if you plan to come by.

The weekend forecast looks terrific.
