Crawford State Park in Kansas.

We have reserved the Lakeview Group Use Area for the weekend of September 24th through the 26th, 2010. This is a secluded part of the park that has a modern bath/shower house, a covered shelter for the breakfast and dinner events with electric and a huge group fire pit. There are 10 sites all with electric and there are 2 community water spickets.

This is an aerial photo taken by Matthew - N523RV, a member of the T&TTT forum. This was taken during the 2009 Gathering that coincided with the Parks 75th anniversary celebration.

The circle in the center of the photo is the group fire ring. The entry and exit road to the area is gated and we are allowed to close it off if we choose.

Wow! Someday we might have enough people that we have to actually sit outside of the ring.

There have been concerns voiced about the group area filling up and people not having a spot to camp. I have talked to the park personnel several times about this and have been told there are no worries, we will find a place for everyone. We have approval to park as many trailers as we can per site, honestly some of them could hold 6 trailers but I don't think we would have to resort to that. Cars could be parked along the roadway to make more space for trailers if needed. I was informed this last weekend that as long as each vehicle has 2 wheels on the road we are good. Last year we did double up on several sites and it went perfectly. For anyone that does not want to double up but still wants to attend there are several other campgrounds at the park. The Rocky Cove are has the only reservable sites at the park and there are several cabins that can be reserved.

Activities:
Friday Night - Some Will Be Going Out For Chicken in Girard, Kansas. It's About 12 Miles From The Lake. Catering was to costly so everyone is on their own for chicken.
Saturday Morning - Group Breakfast.
Saturday Night - Group Dinner.
All Weekend - Socialize Around The Fire Pit, Trailer Tours, Fishing, Eating and Drinking.

More to come!

The park is located in South/Eastern Kansas, 9 miles north of Girard on highway 7 and 17 miles South of Fort Scott. Girard can supply basic needs and Fort Scott has a 24 hour Wal-Mart Supercenter along with numerous fast food restaurants.

Area Attractions.

Looks like we will have the group area reserved for Thursday the 23rd. Come on down. We'll split up the cost among the people that come down early.

For the Gathering the camping fees have been paid and we will split it up per camper once we know how many will be there. At $100 dollars per night for the group area it will be under $20 each for the weekend. The park pass is not included so each vehicle coming in will need to purchase those. as you come through the gate just tell them you are in the group area and that you only need a park pass.

More to come!

If anyone has questions or wants to be added/removed from the list please let me know. Also if you are wanting Chicken Annie's on Friday please let me know so I can check on them catering it out to us or let them know we are going to invade.

More photos of the park can be seen here.

This gathering is the same weekend as a SC gathering. I think that happened last year, too. Kansas is close enough for some of us to get to, but people close enough for both gatherings have to choose between them.

Our gathering for that weekend is near Dallas, so it's not close for NC campers. But, the Okies are right in between.

I really don't know if it would make a lot of difference, or not, but maybe we should try not to schedule gatherings on the same weekends when the location is close to two regions. It is entirely possible that, even if we choose two separate weekends, people will not be able to do both gatherings in one month, anyway. Your guess is as good as mine.

I'm not trying to be negative. Just offering some food for thought.

 CD I agree on really big gatherings like LCG but Dallas is farther than a bunch of us in MO and KS are going to drive often. This also served as the Tearjerkers gathering last year. Crawford just happens to be in a great place for the 4-states.

Truth is the North Central wouldn't have gatherings if we don't schedule in a month when the S. Central schedules. You guys camp all the time. And yes we all love all of you buttttttttttttttttttttt.................. :)
