It's the CHICKEN dance. :D

Crawford is 15 miles away from a pretty good chicken eatery in Girard, Kansas. I regularly make the 4 hour round trip just to eat there.

I think Rocky Cove has smaller sites, at least on the water side and Oak Points electric sites are away from the water. At least that is the way I remember it.

This is Oak Point at the top of the drive.

Rocky Cove is much better by far, in my opinion. Try to get around 122-125, the south end. You might have to park across the road from the water. If you look at our photos the water side sites they are really short. Rocky Cove is farther from the bath house but that shouldn't be a problem for you.

I'm going to try and make it down that weekend. I'll let you know.

I think I can make it down,I'll try to be there on Friday 6/11. Can I pay for the site after I get there? Rocky Point is where we'll be?

Rocky cove is the one I think Phil is heading to. I'm planning on making it down also.

You'll save $12 by not making a reservation. Last time I went down the booth wasn't open so I went in and found a place to camp. Then I went to the park office, Nick works in there, and told him what site I picked and also bought my yearly Kansas State Park pass, you can get a daily pass if that's what you want.

On Saturday morning I got a call from Mark and Em that they were coming down. I went on a tour of the lake and found several openings in Rocky Cove so they let me pay for their site and also had no problem with me moving to a different site. The camp host came by and all was good.

Normally I don't think you have to know what site you want, just pay for a site with electric and then find an open location.

There was also Lonesome Point at the lake that only had 1 camper there out of like 7 sites. They are electric sites but not close at all to the water.
