Hello Shazza,
St. Vrain State Park, formerly Barbour Ponds, is right on I-25 (not great!) at one of the Longmont exits. Here is the website: http://parks.state.co.us/Parks/stvrain/ ... nHome.aspx
I've never stayed there, but it would be convenient. There are probably other places not far from Longmont and up in the foothills, but I don't know of any. Hope this helps. Pete

We've lived here for just a couple years so we haven't visited too many local places.

We checked out St Vrain, we weren't too crazy about it it had lakes but no trees. If you're willing to drive a little bit, Boyd Lake is pretty nice. It's about 20miles away in Loveland. There are camping areas in RMNP, but we couldn't check them out because there were closed when we drove thru the park.

If you're really wanting to camp in town, the only other place I can think of off the top of my head is at the fairgrounds.

West Lake Campground in the Red Feather Lake region. We were up there two weeks ago and it was awesome. Its probably too late for a reservation though.

You can also find some spots above Bellaire Lake. PM me for details.

Hey Bruce.. my daughter came in sick... and spent the entire time with a fever and sleeping.. Guess she came home to have me take care of her... So I'll head up to your spot hopefully in the next week or two.

Thanks a bunch!

You should try to make it to the Last Gasp gathering. We'll all be there.
