There appears to be a small interest ( at this time) of having a sorie, at Clinton lake near Lawrence, Kansas August or Sept of this year. If you have an interest, please list it below. Someone with more experience than moi will pick up the ball and run.

There is an outside chance I might have something to pull by September. It will probably be a flatbed trailer with a tent on it. But what the heck, that's better then sleeping on the ground. I'm unavailable the weekend of September 17 but the rest of the month is open so far. It might be alittle cooler by then. I'm certainly game if the date works out!

Odie & I may be interested, depending on what week it is (later is better for us, we are working the Sturgis Bike Rally in the middle of August). Kansas City is quite a haul for us, but we wanted to go somewhere later this summer anyways. Hopefully I'll get back to work on the tear soon (haven't touched it since just before Minden).

I found this site for information on Clinton Lake for those of us that have never been there. I don't live that far from this lake and I didn't even know it was there. That's pretty bad considering it looks like a pretty good size body of water.

I can vouch for the Hickory/Walnut campgrounds. I have stayed there a few times and they are very nice. They have showers and plenty of clean bathrooms. The camp custodians are really good about keeping things spic and span. There is also a playground for the little ones and Clinton is known for good crappie and catfish fishing. Lots of shade trees, too. The sites are also reservable through www.reserveamerica.com. I like using it because that way I'll know I have spot to camp before I get there.

If you guys want, I can scout out the grounds for the best spots. I only live 20 miles away from the lake so it's no big deal for me to run out there.

Warpony,
You got my vote. Do your thing. Sept. is good except for Freiday the 9th.

Well, from what everybody that has posted about this subject, it looks like Sept. 10-11 seems to fit everybody's schedule. Does that sound like a good weekend for everybody to attend?

The 10th and 11th are good for Trudy and me. At least at the moment. If it's good for everyone else we'll plan on it.

Don, welcome to the board! You'll find yourself addicted and building in no time ! Check the PM that I sent you.

This thread was started LAST summer and we camped at Clinton Lake in Sept LAST year. It was a nice campground and there are pictures too. Look under the South Central forum.

Don,
Welcome, and enjoy. We have a campout scheduled in Bernice State Park OK in September and should be great fun. You are not far from there if you can get to Clinton.

Check out South Central.
