Way to go Mike!! Glad you are finally going to do a gathering. I know you are kinda shy but don't be - you will love every minute of camping with these great folks.
One thing you might want to do is make sure you have a good supply of wood. You will probably have a group campfire going pretty steady, depending on the temps during the day.
Start making a list or ask for someone to give you ideas for your list. You've camped many times so you pretty much know what to bring anyway. But for gatherings, a lot of us will have a Saturday night pot luck dinner. If there is no electric, I'll bet there will be a lot of black iron cooking going on.
You will be surprised at how much fun you will have. And not to worry, if you forget something, someone will have it. Don't forget your camera!! We want to see lots of pictures! Relax and just have a good time buddy!
the gatherings that i have been too have a saturday nite potluck dinner.
also the host has info on the surrounding areas and list things to do for example, canoe trip, walk up to a lighthouse, a dog walk, bike ride, trip to another park (or area to check out), wine tasting at a winery. just really depends on what is near your chosen site.
I'll bet it is the New Fork Lake Campground as it has a group camping area where as the other does not.
It sounds like there is a lot to do there, if you are up to it.
I wish we could attend, but I still have not built a trailer and I doubt that I will have one done before this year ends.
I do hope that all you you have a GREAT time at the outing!
Jerry

Does anyone have any experience with what type of cell phone reception is there? When I was in Indiana, my T-Mobile basically did not work at all, but others with AT&T or maybe it was Verizon had service.
This gathering is sounding better the more I look at it. Slow, did you get the group area, or is it going to be more of a make our own reservations and mingle together once we get there?
With Yellowstone and the Tetons in the same area, kinda, a person could put together an outing that could combine some very amazing sites
I'm going to see if this just might work as the second summer trip of the year
Woodbutcher made the actual reservations, so hopefully he will chime in here. From the way I read it, they reserved the whole campground, but I may have misread. It doesn't matter much either way to me.
Hi all. I will try and answer what I can. WE have RESERVED the group site at New Fork. It hold 30 vehicles and up to 150 people according to the website. I will call the Ranger District in Pinedale on Tuesday and ask some more questions. I want to be sure we have enough room for everyone that wants to come. If there is a way to get some of the sites in the other New Fork camp ground reserved when they can be we may look into that. When I talked to the Ranger she said only a few were able to be reserved and I think not till February.
I will ask about firewood and cell service on Tuesday. Mike will check as well in his area.
I will start a sign up section to keep track of who is coming. Once we get a firm number I will divide up the cost and everyone can reimburse me.
Jerry, you do not need a Teardrop to attend. You can beg borrow or steal a trailer from a friend or bring a tent, we would love to have you!
Keep the questions coming and Mike and I will try to answer them the best we can.
