Walk the Winds Food Thread

Postby Woodbutcher » Tue Jul 24, 2012 7:51 pm

Well it is time to plan meals. If the weather does not change :worship: and things remain as they are now we will be able to cook with our Dutch Ovens and use the grills that the CG provides. :applause:

The purpose of doing a sign up is so we don't have 20 potato salads and nothing else for dinner. If you have some thing you love to make just post it and I will keep a running thread so everyone can see what is being made. If you are not a cook, you can always fill in the blanks with store bought delights!

Thursday we will just play it by ear.....We can do simple things over the fire or just share what ever you brought. These kind of meals just seem to fall into place.

Friday, everyone will be here by then..

Friday Dinner.... 6:30 PM

Main Dishes...
American Chop Suey.......Bruce
Bob Henrys DO Beef roast........Slow Cowboy

Side Dishes
3 Bean salad......Paul
Green salad with Ranch Dressing.................Forrest
Curried Cashew rice.....Sharon
potato salad.......Wolfgang

Deserts
Chocolate Brownies......Will
Cherry Cobbler
Whatever does not fit one of the other categories..

Saturday Breakfast 8AM

Mike and I will supply and cook Omelets in the Turkey fryer. You assemble and we cook!

Other main dishes.. could be pancakes or waffles or ???

Sides
Sausage links...............Forrest

Pastry

Beverages

other

Saturday Night Dinner 6:30.....

Main Dishes
Nine mile Beef stew.......Bruce
Bratwurst and Broccoli.......Wolfgang

Side dishes....
Corn-n-cornbread ......Paul
Vegetable Medley ......Forest
Spinach salad..........Sharon

Desserts....
Apple Cobbler......Bruce
Chocolate Chip Cherry Cake......Steve
Other....

Please remember we are not feeding the 5000. just around 40 people.....only make a dish that will portion out to feed maybe 6-8 people. This allows for sampling a variety dishes. This is also a great place to pick up new camping recipes.

Thanks and we will see ya soon!!

Mike and Steve

I'll bring three bean salad for Friday's nights dinner, and will make in my DO a corn-n-cornbread thing for Sat nights dinner. I'll wait for others to chime in on breakfast, and will try to fill in any gaps.

We can bring donuts and juice/milk for breakfast on Saturday.

We can also bring part of dinner on Saturday night. Still discussing with the wife as to what we will be able to bring, but it will be good! :D
