I am catching back up on the forum after getting back from Walk the Winds 2013. Maurisa and I had a great time! Everyone we met was so nice and helpful that it made this first gathering of ours a very fun and enjoyable one! It was great to see all of the other teardrop and TTT campers as well as hear about the building/remodeling details from their owners. Lots of great ideas and for future projects rolling around in my head now!

One of the best things about this gathering was that it finally allowed me to talk to others who share in this teardrop affliction. Hopefully I have most of it out of my system (the talking, that is) for the time being! :D

Special thanks to Mike (slowcowboy) and Will who worked hard to make this gathering possible! :applause:

See you all next year!

Cheers,
Ryan

P.S. Since I know everyone likes them, Here are a few pictures! :pictures:

We had a great time, as usual! Thanks again to Mike and the others for putting it together!

Photos:

We were welcomed to the gathering with a new sign! At least this time we knew where to go and didn't have to be "rescued" from the regular campsite!

Image

We saw Shawn's "flying saucer" right away:

Image

We were also happy to see Kay and Grant, whom we hadn't seen since the Jefferson State Birthday Bash in Oregon last June! They had their little "caveman" camper instead of the teardrop:

Image

Liz and I roasted marshmallows and hot dogs with our, uh, 'unique' skerwers!

Image

On Saturday we went "visiting" and saw some incredible trailers! This was Nancy's:

Image

Really, just some very nice teardrops. Lots of "woodys" this year!

Image

Image

Image

Not quite a teardrop, not quite a "standy", not quite finished, but certainly unique!

Image

On Saturday morning, Mike (SlowCowboy) showed up and put up a parachute-like awning!

Image

Ryan and Maurisa's new Woody was a real work of art. It even features a skylight so you can watch the meteor showers from inside the trailer!

Image

It was not all home-builts, either. Carol showed up in her Camp Inn and Jane was there with her gorgeous Little guy.

(to be continued...)

Martin,

Thanks for the photos. LOVE the wiener cookers! It's all fun and games until somebody looses a wiener!

More photos (finally fixed the "size" problem!):

We set up our trailer "Bubbles" right near the entrance to the campsite, along with the popup, which we'd never used on a campout before. The sun was pretty bright and it was hot when we got set up so we really needed the shade!

Image

OK, this requires some explanation: Last year, Liz and I went to our first Teardrop Gathering in June. It was the Jefferson State Birthday Bash, hosted by Kay and Grant. On the second day we were there, while we were out fishing, Kay "decorated" bubbles with toilet paper and stuck a note on the door that read "welcome Jefferson State Newbies!"

So, we decided to "welcome" Kay and Grant to Wyoming in a similar manner:

Image

The best part is that they were only about 100 feet away when we did this but they were both sitting in chairs with their backs turned! :R

Although we had one "main" campfire, some folks wanted to set up a second fire so Shawn helpfully delivered some fire right to them!

Image

Saturday Afternoon was hot and sunny, until about 5pm when all of a sudden Mother Nature decided to play a little trick on us just as we were trying to get set up for the evening's pot luck. We were glad to have the pop up to shelter under!

Image

The weather even tried to destroy Jane's umbrella!

Image

But, there's always an end to any storm and this one was signaled by a nice double rainbow over the lake!

Image

After that it was pot luck dinner and then a group photo. One serious...

Image

...and one silly!

Image

Liz and I posed with the banner

Image

And after that came the evening's "entertainment", the lamp glow! A few lamps needed some tinkering, which our "lamp experts" were happy to provide:

Image

The light show itself was pretty impressive!

Image

(My unlit 242B sits in the foreground - unfortunately I wasn't able to get it operating in time for the gathering! )

And a great time was had by all! :applause:
