I marked my calendar! This looks like my kind of camping. This will give me something to shoot for to get my build done.

Can't commit yet, but I'll let y'all know as the date gets closer.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Hey Slow,

Wife says she's fully 'on board' with a Wyoming trip in August Mike. Sooo, with any luck (& no serious illnesses or natural disasters) we should be there by Thursday afternoon, Aug 14th. Getting new tires on the TD this afternoon & gradually getting other items ready so we should be able to leave Arkansas about Aug 7th & slowly make our way toward Pinedale area... This'll be our 'long trip' for this year so will take a little more planning than just 'tossing a few things in'.

We've been experimenting with Dutch Oven cooking. Cynthia tried her hand at baking an apple pie. It took a little longer than expected but it turned out great. We are hoping to make one for Saturday supper at Walk the Winds 2014

Saturday at the Element 11 festival I baked a frozen peach pie in a Coleman stove top oven. Worked great was a big hit when I passed it out.

Yes. I was at the burn when the guy jumped in. I would have seen the whole thing but I blinked. I was about 150 feet away. He did not stand a chance once he jumped in. It was a very hot fire.

I am thinking of maybe going to this. I wanted to last year but cou  ding make it. Are there any costs involved? I looked but didn't see any mention of any. It is a camp ground so I imagine there is a fee. Please post something. Also, are there bathrooms close by or do we need to bring our own porta potties? I have seen the past threads on this but can't remember what is available.
Thanks in advance. It's been a while since I've posted and even longer since I have attended a gathering.

There is a pit toilet there. How close is how you define the term and where you park. As I was having problems walking last year I did drive up to it once or twice. That can be done.

As far as fees. Just slip slow some cash. He arranges it. There is no fee pay site there but he does have to rent it from the FS. or something.

Maybe I can shed some light on this. In 2012 I did the reservation and kept track of the attendees. The way it worked was I paid for the 3 nights reservations in January to hold the dates we wanted. My memory wants to say it was just under 120.00 for the 3 nights. We had 19 trailers attend. So we divided the 120.00 by 19 and got about 6.00 per trailer for the 3 nights. Where can you camp for 2 bucks a night? If there are fewer this year maybe the cost goes up to 10 bucks a trailer. Just for reference if you went to the regular camp ground on the other side of the road the cost was 18.00 per night. So the group site is a bargain.

When everyone arrives count up the trailers and pay Slow. He made the reservation and the money from this year pays the reservation for next year.

I absolutely guarantee you will have a great time at Walk the Winds 2014. It is a beautiful area and some of the finest campers I have met attend.

Have a great time everyone! I may come back in 2015!
