Colorado Campers 2015 schedule

Postby Martinjmpr » Fri Feb 13, 2015 11:15 pm

Hi, Folks. Just wanted to check in with you all here.

First off, I have to announce that our wonderful little homebuilt tear "Bubbles" is no longer ours. She has been adopted by her new owners, a nice young couple who I think will really enjoy making her all their own.

Liz and I have a new camper, a 2014 T@B Clamshell we've named "Livia", and we've been spending our weekends customizing her to suit our needs.

Anyway, we've got a bunch of camping trips planned for the year and we'd love to see some TNTTT folks at our little gatherings!

Here is the schedule. Feel free to post a question or shoot me a PM if you have questions.

Note that most of our gatherings are not all that "organized." On most of them we leave it up to you to make your own reservations, because people's plans can change as the event approaches.

March 20 - 22 2015: Mustache Bash and Chili Cookoff. Location: Carter Lake, Larimer County, CO.

There are several campgrounds at Carter Lake, we will be at the South Shore campground. Sites are all first come/first serve. Note that you will have to buy a County Park pass in addition to your camping fee but they're pretty low ($7 per vehicle entrance fee and $15/night for camping.) Campsites have electrical hookups and there is water available but not at each site.

April 17 -20 2015: Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve near Alamosa, CO. "Beach party" at the dunes. Note that this is a "free weekend" for the National Park system, though of course you would still have to pay for camping. Campsites are primitive with no hookups.

May 15 -17, Erie Balloon Fest, Erie, CO. We will be camping at St. Vrain State Park. St. Vrain is about 10 miles from the town of Erie, just North of Denver. We will be at Mallard Loop, site 026. There are both electric-only and full-hookup sites. Note that this is a very popular park and sites go fast.

May 22 - 26: Gates of Lodore, Dinosaur National Monument, Northwestern CO. Gates of Lodore is located at the Northern tip of Dinosaur National Monument, about 83 miles Northwest of Craig, CO. This is a beautiful but very remote campsite. No hookups and because it's so remote, it rarely fills up. There is hiking and boating in the green river nearby.

July 3 - 6 2015, Taylor Park Reservoir Area, Lottis Creek Campground July 4th celebration. This is a reservable campground through Recreation.gov. Located near the spectacular Taylor Park Reservoir and near scenic Cretsed Butte, there is plenty to do in the area with mountains all around, fishing, boating, hiking, and 4 wheeling.

July 30 - August 2, 2015: "Elevation Celebration", Wellington Lake, near Bailey, CO. There is a separate thread on this so I'll just link to that.

August 13 - 16 2015, Liz's White Trash Birthday Bash, Palisade, CO. Campground TBD. This will be for the Palisade Peach Festival in Western CO. Once we have the campsite reserved I will update this thread. It's also Liz's birthday!

Oct 8 - 12 2015, "Reef Madness", Capitol Reef National Park, UT. We are in the process of trying to reserve the group campsite. Hopefully we will be notified by the end of the month as to whether we have gotten our reservation. Once we know I will update this thread.

In addition to the camping trips we are organizing, we will also be going to the great North of the Border Teardrop Gathering at the NET Camping Resort

We are still working on our plan to get to Ontario.

Again, if anyone has questions, feel free to comment or PM me. We'd love to meet up with other teardrop and tiny trailer campers!

Hi there,
We're teardrop campers but have been out of the loop of things for awhile. Would love to
reconnect and meet some new teardroppers though. We're also intrigued with your new
TAB as we saw one recently and got a chance to speak with it's owners. We live in Centennial.
Hope to meet you some time.
