okay just called the forest in pinedale heres the details...............montain don your only route to pinedale from Yellowstone is come down though dubois to lander and around over south pass. 191 is still closed.............folks in Idaho have to come down though star valley and afton to kemmer and over though big piney I suggest cutting off at pocetello and coming over though montpeller and down to cokevile though border junction. take the road to salt lake and get off and come over the pass to montpeler to cokevile then kemmer.............191 form hoback junction to pinedale is still closed due to the cliff fire no one knows when it will be open.........

no fire bans yet............smoke is not even in pinedale yet its clear blue skyes in pinedale Unless the winds shift.................ass it did last night in pavillon we got smoked up by 9 this moring it was clear gain in pavillon...............

its really hot temps are to me in the 90s.............so bring the coats in case its high elevation at new forks normaly we run 60s oto 70s there I am with the near 100s down on the flats expecting 80s for new forks.............so no heaters needed in teardrops................two quilts should work...........but in case as its Wyoming and rocky moutains just bring coats and be prepared as it can drop to lows of 30s or 20s at nights in years past. but I am expecting 30s or 40s for nigts with this hot spell we are having and this barn burner summer tis year.

any more questions just fire away...........slowcowboy see ya all around the camp fire tommrow with the big black coffee pot!

My schedule is to leave Greenleaf about 5:00AM Friday and stopping for breakfast a little before 7:00AM in Twin Falls at the Buffalo Café, 218 4th Ave W, Twin Falls, ID 83301 The Buffalo Chips just may be the best breakfast I've ever eaten. I guess no may be about it.

If that interest you PM me for my cell or meet me there.

By the way, "Wyoming 511" app has all the current info on the road closure(s), including a map.
Good to download to your phone (Android or Apple) for use enroute or later in the week as this develops.

If the 191/89 is still closed in the morning I am going to Pocatello, Montpelier, Kemmere Wyoming then up to Cora and New Forks. Looks like Highway US 30 from Pocatello to Kemmerer and then 189 north

That's my plan too. Don't know how much time you'll have but if you go that route Fossil Butte National Monument is totally worth an hour. It's only a couple miles off the road. It's amazing. there are fern fossils that will blow your mind. And too many others to mention.

I saw that spot on the map. I am trying to get going at least by 6 am. Trying to get loaded and hitched up tonight. The heat is sapping what little ambition I have.

Have a great time folks! I won't make it this year, wish I could. Summers are too short and way too much going on. Can't wait to see pics and hear the stories!!
