We can bring 5# of sausage also. It looks like we almost have everything we need. Just need another 5# of sausage, some more onions and some Tasso.

Pork sausage with lots of good spicy seasoning, usually smoked. Very, very good!

...actually that is andouille...Tasso is a thin sliced boneless pork which is heavily seasoned in a marinade and then HEAVILY SMOKED...it is usually added as a flavoring such as you would use bacon...it can be added to beans, gumbos, jambalaya, ect.........
madjack 8)

p.s it is usually found only in South Louisiana...often homemade, in small mom and pop stores, which is why I asked some attendees from SLa if they had a good source...I may get a pork butt and make up some here at the house..........MJ

Oops...I was talking about andouille. Husband just smoked a butt load of it last weekend.

I will check at the store at the beach this weekend for the Tasso. They have had it before and that is the only place that I have seen it. Let you know what I find.

If the "Big Store" don't have it, you can't get it.

If the "Big Store" has Tasso, then we have Tasso. Is 10#'s better for your Gumbo MJ, because if they have it I will buy it this weekend. Let you know my success Monday.

Tasso sounds like my kind of "thinly sliced pork, then heavily smoked" kind of meat

I remember the chicken gumbo a few years ago and it was AWESOME!!! I could've ate that for breakfast every day!!

Is there anything I can bring for ingredients or is it all covered? Hey, if it's cool with everybody, I can go to Sam's and get a couple of piles of paper bowls to eat in or dinnerware to eat it with.......yes, no?

A couple years back, you could have worn that gumbo for breakfast. :o

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Bowls sound good. I'm bringing my own spoon. I want a big spoon to eat that good gumbo.

How's about we each bring our own bowls to reduce the amount of garbage we produce - BYOB (with bowl being the ending). I prefer a BIG bowl and a big Spoon
