It will be about a 6 hour drive for us so if we can get away early enough we will be there by early mid afternoon... 8)

Fran, Greg (her 17 yr old son), and I will be arriving early afternoon on Friday. He's never been down in that part of the State, so I think we'll take him up on the Talimena Drive to take a look. We should be in camp by around 1 or 2 o'clock, I think.

Julie...............it's not likely that it'll rain between now and then down there, so better plan on camping without a campfire. (That's like setting up a tent in your living room and calling it a wilderness camp!) I wonder what effect that'll have on charcoal for our Dutch Ovens?

Cindy and I will be leaving as soon as school is out. So it will probably be 6 or 7 for us.

campfires?

Postby oklahomajewel » Tue Mar 07, 2006 4:53 pm

Should we put all our flashlights in a pile? or somebody bring a good DVD and we'll watch a good flick. Just watched the movie "Crash" the other night and really liked it !

If no campfires allowed, hopefully the weather will still be good and we can see the stars... :campfire:

No campfires? Then what do you do? Roast marshmellows over the stove? Watch a dvd in your laptop of a campfire you had last year? Bring an electric fireplace along? :?

I was thinking about one of those store window fires...........you know, a floodlight pointed skyward with a fan below it and red crepe paper around the rim. :campfire: Not too cool, but maybe all we'll get!

The website says that there is a grill at most sites. I guess you can make a big fire in the grill and sit around that.

Thanks to Kidney stones I won't be taking the morning off work now. So we should leave Nacogdoches by 1:00. That should get us there between 4:00 and 5:00.

WOW !!! Last night , around 11 pm I was lying in bed and heard this odd noise outside, like a crackling sound.. no, something tip tapping on the roof.... I jumped out of bed... Oh my God What is that NOISE?!!!!

I looked outside , couldn't see anything , thought I smelled something odd.........

It was .......... R A I N !!!!!!!!

I hadn't seen it or heard it in so long, I wasn't sure at first what it was !!!
I had to run out to my son's car to make sure the windows were up !!! Rain !!!! Falling out of the sky !!!!!! It was wet !!!! OH NOW I REMEMBER THAT !!!!!

So I wake up this morning..... ahhhhh!!!! The streets, the driveway , it's all still wet !!!!! The grass !!!! ahhhhhhhh

I doubt this stuff was down at Beavers Bend but it's a start ==== keep prayin' !!! :worship:

Julie,

One night's rain isn't going to change a State-wide fire ban, and there's no rain expected in Hugo for the next 15 days, at least. Don't think there's much chance we'll get to start a campfire. (much to my chagrin!)
