Well, we've done 3 parks so far. Lake Sommerville actually has a group campground of 14 sites. Really nice area had deer roaming all over. Buescher didn't have much in the way of camp sites. Bastrop was a nice park and has a golf course attached. Eating at McDonalds right now getting ready to head to Mckinney Falls.

OK, Dave. We are expecting a detailed written report on each of the State Parks you and Cindy visited. WITH pictures, of course!

WOW Dave and Cindy too.... you're inspiring me to do a marathon like that for Oklahoma. Even though I've lived here all my life, there are lakes and state parks I've never been to. Might help others in the surrounding states.

Anybody else going to do this where you live?

It would be great for all the others in your area, and for planning future gatherings.

Well, we just returned from our 1059 mile marathon. One thing we have discovered is that a lot of state parks here in Texas do have dedicated group areas that can be reserved. We are going to do some research now and see what has to be done to reserve these and how many they will accomodate.
Cindy and I have been talking throughout the trip and believe that the way to get what we want out of the state park system here is for one person, much like Linda did for us at Beaver Bend, to reserve a block of sites under their name. Then we could probably get the park to block that number of sites for us in the same area.

Cindy and I will be compiling the photos and information we gathered. Give us a few days and will post the link to the new area on Tears of Texas.

Dave, I must clear something up with the Oklahoma State Parks.
"Unlike Oklahoma, Texas will not let us double up in camp sites"
As was explained to me by our camp host at Beaver's Bend twoRVs can not double up at a site. A site can have a RV and a tent can be added for $8 for adults with no electricity being used and $12 if electricity being used for the tent. If a tent is being used for children or pets there is no charge.

Glad you guys had a good time.
Can't wait to see list and pics
Linda

Thanks Linda, that was something I misunderstood. Thanks for correcting me, I hate giving out false information.

Texas Parks will let you put as many tents in a RV space as space will allow at no additional charge.

I was told when I made the reservations that we could double up. Now we know..... I had every intention of telling everyone at the potluck and we were so into the food that I totally forgot.
