To All,
This was the first trip for Windsong, in its unfinished form. We drove almost 3,000 miles with no major problems. I ran with 30 lbs air pressure in the trailer tires. The only problem I had was on the first tank of gas I only got 14 miles per gallon. This was not completely the fault of the trailer, but was due to my heavy foot on the accelerator. I discovered that my GMC Envoy straight 6 cylinder could get 18 miles per gallon pulling the teardrop trailer if engine RPM’s did not exceed 2000 RPM. This would prevent it from jumping out of over drive.
Another problem during one of the cooler nights at 9,000 foot altitude we awoke one night with shortness of breath, it appears that if both the windows are closed and hatch and door is closed that you could get it depleted of breathable air. We quickly opened the windows and we were fine. I don’t think we will have to worry about water leaks, although we never got any rain to test it. Take this as a word of wisdom ALWAYS leave a window cracked to let in fresh air into a teardrop when sleeping. During the nights it got down to about 45 degrees and the teardrop was real cozy even with the open windows.
All in all this was a good first experience with Teardrop /RV camping. We stayed in 2 RV camps on the way to Brooks Lake. We enjoyed the flush toilets, and the showers. I did find out on the return trip that most RV camps offices close at 9:00 PM so you need to get there early to get a spot paid for. We ended up getting a motel room for the last night of the trip in order to get a nice shower after 5 days of wilderness teardrop camping. The prices for RV spots was 20 dollars in Salina Kansas and 16 dollars in Rawlins Wyoming Then That beats 60 to 80 dollars for a motel room.
We paid 10 dollars a night at Brooks Lake for 5 days . They had good cold running water from a spring . There were Pit toilets in the area, and no showers.
Oh and also we had a lot of fun! This was truly God’s Country!

. Oh and that the weatherstriping doesn't leak. I will let you all know how it turns out. I look forward to keep you posted as I finish out the inside later. Also last Sunday I took it for a test tow to rickxr2's house. He said it looks pretty good!
