Ozark camping advice

Postby rmcelroy » Thu Dec 28, 2006 3:22 pm

Kinda starting to think ahead to the spring, and started mulling over the idea of seeing the Ozarks. I've been to the the Smokeys and the Rockies, but havn't seen Ozarks.

Any tips on good campgrounds, things to see and do would be much appreciated.

You might try the following LINK to Arkansas State Mountain Parks and Arkansas State Parks.

I hope this will be a start I can look up some MO. sites if you need.

Mc, if you go to the Ozarks, you HAVE to do a float on the Current River. I've been there quite a few times and loved it!

Crater of Diamonds State Park. Anna and I went there on vacation in Aug. of '05 looking for our way out of regular work. Well, quartz chips don't exactly pay the bills in Kansas........... :x !
They have a really nice pool area (didn't get to use it because it was closed) and the campground has lots of shade. Other than the overpriced mining equipment, we had a good time.

 When I checked in to it we were looking for cabin or motel and the fishing down there is supposed to be great. Not that I wouldn't like to find a nice yellow diamond.

Lake Greeson

Postby Sodapop Teardrop » Mon Jan 01, 2007 1:21 am

Lake Greeson is a rock bottom lake that we have visited for 20 years. Several great camping areas with hot showers and flush potties! 8)

Thanks for the advice. I've been away from the computer for a few days, sorry for the delay.

I'll start looking at these and daydream about a fine spring day.

Hope you all had a good holiday season?
