July 17-19 Ft Gibson, OK *** Come campin !!!

Come camp with me at the Fort Gibson DamSite on the Neosho River (south end of the lake) on the weekend of July 17-19 . Only about 20 miles away is the Porter Peach Festival that weekend.

The Damsite at Ft Gibson is a COE park and able to reserve on Reserve America. Drove thru it last Labor Day and it is a nice park, very shady and green and although the map on reserveamerica makes the available spots look far from the water, they aren't that far. There is a pretty big hill going in and out of the campground, but my Honda w/ the Jewel box did fine.

Anyone else interested?

There are 4 spots down by the water, but also toward the boat ramp and farthest from the bath house. There are more than 10 other spots still available, I'm thinking of spots 42, 43, and then 2, 4, 6, 8...

Hurry and let me know !!!

 Jules we tried to camp there coming back from Palo Duro...the lake was so high the COE had all 31 gates open and that damsite park was closed to campers. The hosts were there but no camping...I am sure by Mid July they will have opened it back....great cool weather place for the heat of July. Queenie Jeanne

Yes, last Labor Day I didn't camp there but the camp host was very nice and said it does sometimes have to close in April or May because of the lake overflowing.
This is just a wide shot of the campground from the opposite side of the river

July shouldn't be a problem. This isn't like the most beautiful park in NE Oklahoma, I just picked it because it is nice, reservable and closest to Porter. I haven't been to that festival before but there 's always festivals or things going on around the state and campgrounds close by. And I need a reason to go camping in July and have a new AC hookup to try out!

As much as I hate to pass up summer camping, I won't be camping until September. It's just too hot for me & an A/C isn't going to happen for me this year.

Have fun, Julie.

Wish we could go, we're still locked in to working the store. We went to the festival a couple years ago and had a good time. We got there mid afternoon and missed most of the activities, and the peaches and ice cream! But we still enjoyed it.

Have fun,
Rick

Hey Rick thanks for an update about the festival though. I wondered if it's worth going to.

OKAY !!!!

COME CAMPING WITH US !!! Just two weeks away !!

I am BOOKED in site 42 , Phil "okiecamper" should get 43 and anyone else should get 4, 6, 8...

on Reserve America site it shows that sites from 41, 40 and down in the 30s are closer to the water and they look like they are all booked, but actually they are non reservable. So when we get there , we might have a chance to move , but whatever...

Well, I have to post this to make you all wanna come camping this next weekend. Yes, yes I know it's *#$&@ HOT and I don't like it either but I'm going ... It's a very shady park, and I'll have plenty of cold beverages.

Then checked the weather for Ft Gibson, OK

Thursday night & maybe Friday has a chance of a storm... but I'm sure any rain will soak in as soon as it hits the ground. The highs are supposed to be ONLY 88*, to 91*

YEA!!!!!!

Come camp with us !

Hey Jeannie & Dennis..... cool !! See ya there.

My power is out at home right now, at a friends. We had BAD winds and hail in Midwest City and limbs down everywhere, no damage at my place but electricity out all over my 'burb.

I'm still coming camping though!

The storms are passing thru the Muskogee / Tulsa area tonite and the weather should be good this weekend. I havent checked the latest accuweather for there yet.

I will be in site 42 and Okiecamper across from me in 8 . Last time I checked reserve america there were plenty showing open , but PM me or post here if you want me to get you a spot when I get there!!!

We were already talking about dinner , one night he's doing a porkloin and one night I'm doing dinner but don't know what ... steaks maybe. So join us , we'll figure it out.
