LCGV Fri Nite Feed

...as all past attendees know, I have always cooked something Cajun for everyone supper on Fri nite and wish to do so again...I paid for this outta pocket the first couple of years and have taken donations the others...because I have been uncertain of when I would be there, this year I haven't brought this up until I was more certain of my schedule...I will be there but it is a little late to take up donations for the feed(around 400 bux needed) soooooo, this is what I propose...I will cook up a traditional Cajun chicken/sausage/okra file' gumbo...I will post the ingredients below and folks can post, from that list, what they will bring for the pot...this not only will spread the costs out more but is traditional as well...so here is what we will need.......

20#s boneless, skinless chicken breasts...these are usually sold in 3# bags for around 9-10 bux a bag(around here)

20#s smoked sausage...these are sold in 1-3 pound packages at around 3bux a pound...various brands are OK, a Cajun version would be better

...if any of our South Louisiana attendees have access to a good Tasso, 5-10#s of this would be a REALLY nice addition and very appreciated.........

15#s of chopped Okra or a case of canned Okra...or combination thereof......................

10-15#s of white or yellow onions......

half dozen LARGE green bell peppers..........

4 bunches of celery.........

32 oz jar of chopped garlic

10-12 bunches of green onions

10#s long grain rice

I will supply all the various and top secret herbs and seasonings along with the ROUX(most important part)...bring your own bowl and spoon and we will eat until we hurt ourselves...all ingredients need to be at my site by about 2-3PM on Fri for this to work out for supper before dark...if the various veggies are coarsely chopped when they arrive at my site, it would be appreciated as well...and I gare-roan-tee it will be killierdiller...AAAAIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEE.........................

p.s. Y'all bring it and I will cook it...otherwise we end up with a ROUX soup :o  :? ;)

Hey Phil, With 20 pounds on the menu, we will want to define "some" haha we want to get the math right. :scratchthinking:

I will get 5 around pounds of Smoked sausage myself ("Around" meaning rounding up). If you can do around 5 pounds too, that will leave two more 5-pounder volunteers who I am sure will be happy and looking for a way to contribute to the feed! We have plenty of peeps to spread it around!

Madjack I plan to be there at check in time Friday! Glad you are able to make it too! It wouldn't be right to have MadJack's party without ya ;)
