Polar Bear Pickin'

Postby 2bits » Tue Jan 04, 2011 10:08 pm

Remember Pickin' in the Pines? This is the same event that is in May and Sept, but less popular because it is Jan. 14th-16th. The Acoustic jam will be in heated tents or outdoors if the weather's nice. No stage show and NO TICKET PRICE. Just $5 per person per night to camp. It's a straight shot out Hwy 80 which is a nice drive and just SW of Mineola. there are SOME sites with Power, probably more readily available since it is a smaller event. Being a musician not required, but appreciation of the music and lifestyle should be if you plan to attend.

Just thought I would post in case anyone was interested. I am off MLK day so I might try to do it for my B-day if the weather is decent. If you're gonna camp in January It can't hurt that it is a folk festival and only five bucks (PP/PN)!

I just got the driveshaft in my truck balanced and it is riding smooth as silk so I am ready to get outta dodge.

I'm kinda rusty, but I still have my jug - still have trouble going from one note to another without taking a sip. And still by the time that I get a good deep sound I've taken so many sips that I just don't give a flip what it sounds like. :D

Thought that you drove a chevy, not a dodge.

Oh, I forgot to mention that some of this Ozark shine that's carried in those playing jugs will make you see polar bears in Texas. :D

One day a baby polar bear approaches his mother with a confused expression on his face and says, "Mom? Am I a polar bear?"
"Well of course son!"
The cub replied, "You’re sure I'm not a panda bear or a black bear?"
"No, of course not. Now run outside and play."
But the baby polar bear is still confused so he approaches his father.
The cub asks, "Dad, am I a polar bear?"
"Why of course son!" the papa polar bear gruffly replies.
The cub continues, "I don't have any grizzly bear or Koala bear in my bloodlines?"
"No son. I'm a polar bear, your mother is a polar bear, and by god you too are one hundred percent purebred polar bear!! Why in the world do you ask?"

"Because I'm freezing my BUTT off!!"
