Headed out its about an 8 hour drive for us so we are going to drive north of ft worth and stay the night and drive on in the morning just to split the drive time up. see everyone tomorrow,have a safe trip.

At 110 to 112 degrees it has got to be pretty uncomfortable. Also with winds about 20 mph. We stayed at Caprock on our way home from the Beach Bash, nice little park but not a lot of shade.

Yeah, I would be setting up the Easyup for THIS gathering if I was there. The scenery has got to be beautiful though

I hear on FB that it is 115 degrees and HOT.

Probably the hottest camping (112-114 degrees)we have ever done. However we had a cool time .

It has been 117 degrees here the last few days. I could not go this year not because of the heat, but because I am leaving July 15th for my 15 day vacation in NM....where I know it will be cooler & I can stand in the cold water & trout fish!

i am soooooooooooooo jealous........ I can almost feel that cold water on my feet and legs. Dont know if we will be making a trip to NM or Colorado this year. Where are you going?

It was so wonderful to see everyone and visit in spite of the hot weather. We had a mist tube running through the trees at our camp spot and that helped make it a bit cooler. I think we only had three injuries in the entire campgrounds... a scrapped toe, a smashed thumb and a burned finger.

Thanks Dave for the awesome pics. It really is a beautiful canyon and the Rangers were the best! They told Mike and I that they had never had a group as nice as the TD's and that we were welcome anytime. Joyce and her crew were wonderful. Maybe next year we can plan it for the spring............This has been the wierdest year of weather.............. Thanks for all who came......... We love ya.

Many thanks to Mike and Brenda, Justin and Katy for an awesome Gathering. I survived the flood at PD last year and Carla and I survived the heat this year . I'm thinking all the other gatherings we attend are going to be a piece of cake now!

We are going up by Tres Ritos, NM. About 40 miles from Taos.

oh yeah...........I"m all for the cool mountain air as most of you know. That's the only place we will camp June - September.

I have been trying to go to New Mexico, particularly the northeast part, for five years and haven't made it yet, but it is a gonna happen - just can't say when. I have never been to the area. Do you recommend going without a definite itinerary? Is there local lodging at a reasonable price such that not towing a trailer is practical? Do you have a recommended area? Do you have any knowledge of the Las Vegas' Rociada, Mora area?

I know Las Vegas, NM has lots of places to stay, but never stayed there.
I'm not sure if Mora has any places to stay or not.
