The Maiden voyage!

Postby Justin & Katy » Tue Mar 15, 2011 10:58 am

Well, it's here at last...the maiden voyage! We're going to Quartz Mountain, OK with Cashcow on Thursday. This will be our first time to go camping without a tent! I'll be sure to take lots of pics.

Don't forget to leave the vent open. A little air will make all the difference in your stay

:? :? Man! It's not to much fun getting ready for the first trip of the year!!! The cow was a mess!! We just put her in the barn at the end of the trip to Corpus at Christmas. Guess it was just so COLD :snow :snow to actually clean her out.  We didnt even know what some of the stuff was that we had to trash. Kinda like a George CARLIN refridgerator experiment!

We are herding up the cow and the Flying Fordster and OFF we go to Quartz Mountain. Sure hope they have some places to camp.

Well, we're back and we had a great time! There were a few gliches along the way. The A/C worked the first night but not the second. I took it out, hooked it up and now it works just fine again....who knows. Anyway, Quartz Mountain is a great place to camp with lots to do. We got some pictures. Hope you enjoy them.

My shelter didn't stand up to the wind so we ended only having a frame :(

:) Great photos guys, it looks like "A Good Time Was Had By All". This looks like a really nice place to camp. I am happy your first time out was enjoyable. The Cobbler looks delicious! Also Mike's lanterns really light up the place. Carla and I am looking forward to camping with all of you at Caprock Canyons.

It turn off beautiful for most of the weekend. Mike even got his "first of the spring/summer brain burn." :x :x :x

What happened to your shelter? Did it go airborn or did the tarp just rip in the wind? What was the wind speed?

The wind came and went all weekend long but it was the gusts that got it. It ended up bending a couple of the poles and it broke one of them. I thought surely that it would hold up better but I guess i was wrong. We did have a great time though. Now we're looking forward to going to Caprock Canyons in June. It looks like we're going to have a good turn out for that gathering.

:applause:  Lookin Great! Beautiful area and beautiful Teardrops.

One thing, you might contact the maker of that shelter and tell them it didn't hold up and broke a leg. Might just get a new one! ;)
