I got a TV for my teardrop

Postby honeask » Tue Dec 27, 2011 11:02 am

Santa was nice and brought me a small TV for my teardrop. Now on to the experts, I know James Worley and Spinnernut both have a tv, so I was wondering what is the best way to get decent reception. I think someone said something about a digital antenna. We are not interested in the whole cable set-up but just something to pick up local broadcasts for the occasional viewing. Any suggestions would be appreciated, be it brands or location to purchase. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sandy,

This is the one we use - http://www.amazon.com/Antennas-Direct-DB2-Directional-Antenna/dp/B000EHUE7I/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1325013564&sr=1-4. The antenna clamps around a pole. We use a broom handle and then strap that to a tree.

At LCG, we could easily pull in the Shreveport stations.

Take care,
Tom

My plan is to use a laptop or similar device for my tv's

I tried a couple of different digital antenna setups with varying results (Mostly Bad) and finally settled on a http://www.jacktv4free.com. Locally I get four times as many usable signals and this seems to be what many with Winegard's are replacing their antennas with.

Good gift you got Sandy ! At LCG we took a rather new flat screen tv, and Kenny brought just a garage sale amplified antenna to see how it would work ...

It worked great !!!! I think it made a difference that it was an amplified antenna.

At the time , we just ran the cord thru the roof vent, but want to find a better solution.

Julie, I used one of these to make the connection.

One of the advantages of the Jack antenna is that is is amplified and will work off of 12V or 120V

Thanks everybody. After we return from celebrating the New Year we are gonna make a decision and follow through. The other gift that comes with the TV is four camping trips before June. We gotta get busy.
