Anyone interested in going to Chama, NM (Rio Chama RV park) next year and camp on the river and take the steam train ride. Not a formal gathering but make your own reservations and hopefully have a nice little gathering.

UPDATE: MAY 30,2012
OK I made a call to the park and they are holding 20 spots for us. June 20th 21st 22nd and 23rd of 2013. But you need to call and reserve your spot as soon as you can because June is a busy month for them. Here is there web site http://www.coloradodirectory.com/riochamarv/ or call 575-756-2303 and tell them your with the vintage trailer group or Arizona Round Up.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is hidden away in a little-known corner of the southern Rocky Mountains, and is a precious historic artifact of the American West. Built in 1880 and essentially unchanged since, the C&TSRR is the most outstanding and best known example of steam-era mountain railroading in North America.

The Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad is known around the world for its spectacular scenery, unique machinery, and historic structures.

P.S. you can come early as you want and stay late as you want just let them know. I gave them my CC for them to hold my spot and have till May I think she said before they charge my card.

I love that area. We almost rode the train last July but passed on through.

When are you thinking about going?

I highly recommend the train ride. Did it several years ago, and drove through that park while I was there. It seemed like a nice place to camp.

I absolutely love New Mexico and might be camping in Chama this August. Have a place rented in El Rito, but might tow the teardrop and head off for camping after my time in El Rito.

I would be interested in camping in this area, try and set a date, as soon as possible. Sure sounds like fun to me. I have fished at El Vado and Lake Heron and had a great time. :D

We would love to! That's our back yard, so to speak, but since I haven't finished the trailer yet, we haven't camped there yet. Dear daughter has taken pictures of the Chama train with her grandpa, but none of us have ridden it.

:picnic: :woohoo:

Hey that's a great idea. We spent a day in the Chama area several years ago on the way down to Carlsbad. We missed the train by a few minutes and I've always wanted to go back for a ride. Count us in. We were there in the fall and Chama Pass was beautiful

Another thing I should say is if your think on going try to reserve before the end of August because there winter comes quick and regulars will reserve for next year because the park will close for winter until they open around May 1st
