Tuning in late... I guess all the spots are taken by now, but thought I would check. Anything open? If not, I'll try the next one.

Hello RollsRice, the park has been full for 5 or 6 weeks. There"s no room to camp but you are more than welcome to come by and visit. We're not hard to find, just look for teardrop trailers. We'll have a potluck dinner on Saturday around 6PM and you are welcome to join us for dinner if you want to.

If the park has been full, and from Cindy's post I gather there has been a cancellation to free up a spot, then how are the spots allotted? I'm new at this game, and have no idea who gets what or where or when. I see in other threads that spots are chosen in advance (LGIV, etc...) but I have never camped except on private land. What's the protocol at DinoValley?

Working On It,
In Texas state parks. They will only promise you a camp site. You don't know where it will be until you get there. Other states around us let you reserve specific sites ahead of time. Cindy has been checking daily in case someone canceled. Luckily someoneram canceled today and we were able to grab that site.

That was a confusing point to me too when I first started camping with the group, how the heck do go get sites together if you can't choose your sites! Well I learned that you do get to pick your site upon arrival and sometimes they let you cruise the park and pick one too, (but if it gets rented while you are cruising you should have a choice B and C) so make it quick!

Also if you mention to the park ranger that you are with the teardrop gathering (and sometimes me took the host, like I am with the teardrop gathering with woody Perkins) the rangers are always really good about helping us stick together!

I am still amazed at how well it all works out! Obviously Satrday arrivals have less choice than Friday arrivals and the Thusday arrivals basically pick the general group area. In smaller parks its no so much of a concern.

I hope that helps!

So basically its first come , first served. The Oklahoma Landrush, only in Texas. I can do that; just look for a group of TnTTT's and go for it. I'll probably be asking more questions later, but this helps. I really hate being the rookie at anything!

Dinosuar Valley is a State Park. I talked to Dave & Cindy yesterday and they said they had been checking the State Reservation web every day and someone (not TDer's) had cancelled. They were quick enough to reserve before someone else did.
