Glad you can join us.

Anyone else can join us if they want to. You don't have to have a TD. Big Trailer, little trailer, tent, kids, dogs, cats, - it's all good.

Looks likes a great gathering. Wish Cindy didn't have a conference that weekend. I'm really missing camping.

I just reviewed my reservation for Dinosaur Valley last night (I hadn't looked at it for a month); I saw that it had "0 vehicles , 2 persons, <20ft rv site" listed. As I stated before, this is my first reservation, so I may have made a mistake. as to # of vehicles...doesn't that mean additional vehicles, as I thought, or do they think I'm hauling my trailer without a vehicle? Please advise, so I can be sure to correct the error, if any. I'd call them today, if it wasn't a holiday. I also have another question. Is there any return to Joe Pool Lake planned? I had intended to either attend the last one, or at least drop by if the trailer wasn't finished (it wasn't, and I couldn't). It is less than 20 miles from my house, and it would be perfect for my wife and I to shuttle in and out of there (we can't both leave home at the same time, for too many hours, because of the menagerie we have).

We're kinda winging it this year, we had been doing the same routine for a few years and I think people just like to mix it up a little sometimes. I like Cedar Hill state park because they have 355 sites so you can pretty much always find a spot and if you have a state park pass you get in for free and don't have to pay the daily rate. The group typically likes Loyd Park which is also at Joe Pool lake because it is a city park and there is no rule about no open display of alcohol like state parks have and you can reserve a group loop or an actual individual spot that ou can't do at State parks. I haven't seen too much of an issue with the alcohol thing at state parks myself, but others have had run ins for that. I think if you keep it in a koosie it is fine, but both parks are nice, and there is another city park at the lake too that I have never been to. I am not a fan of the facilities for either though, but they do the trick when you need to take care of business or take a shower. I think Loyd park is probably better in that respect. Sorry to derail the thread with my "review", so I guess the answer is there are no current plans, but they could pop up at any time! Joe Pool is fairly close to me, Lake Lavon have a couple parks, and Lake Tawakoni State Park is right next door to me. Ray Roberts SP, and few parks around Louisville Lake too. I would go to Google Maps and zoom in and look for the parks and then see if they have camping, alot of city parks that are independently run are around.

Also, I am not sure but I think you are right regarding the vehicles, that it means extra vehicles.

I hope that helps! I need to get to building!!

2bits- thanks for your response. Though open display of alcohol isn't a concern to us, having "retired" from consumption 20+ years ago, I can still see why it would matter to some...I don't like being told what I can do or where.... But, my interest in local camping is that I will probably only be able to do short trips, maybe into adjoining states, whereas my wife might travel far-away, camping singly. But, as a couple, local camping is our only alternative (with 7 dogs, 2 cats, 2 birds at home). We keep trying to let our herd diminish, thru natural decrease, over the years, so we could travel in our old age (mine's almost here, her's a bit off), but we keep having strays find us. We once had 10 dogs,11 cats, 4 hamsters, 1 bird, and 1 fish at the same time. At least we're getting closer.

I hope you guys are still coming Scott! I know what you mean, I have decided that with the heat and my schedule, the Prowler will just not be campable by this gathering, so I am putting my focus back on my teardrop since it needs very little to be done so I will probably show up in that unless I get a wild hair and some extra time and energy! I miss camping and this will be the first gathering in a very long time for me...
