Just wanted to stop in and say hi. I began my build thread this evening and I am ready to get the party started. If anyone is interested in looking at the design/build you can find it here:
viewtopic.php?f=50&t=62234

Finally starting after a rough year last year. Between having shoulder surgery, bad illness, and the wife being diagnosed with cancer. Here is to a better year.

I believe we might be pretty close. I live a little north of the 287 and 35 split. The only downfall up here is how much construction is currently happening. When we moved up here it was considered country. Oh we'll. we will have to meet up some time and swap ideas.

Nope, still a teardropper. It has a 12" basement so the interior is approx 3'9". I'm more into the traditional teardrop, just wanted a bigger one.

Spinnernut, your right down the road from me then. I'm not lucky enough to have a shop but I do have a 3 car garage that I hope is big enough.

Its still a tear drop, I never saw the rules on how big or small they had to be.

My 2001 Tacoma TV has been giving me fits, lately. :( First it was a Check Engine Light that indicates that the Cat Converter has had it, and inspection is due this month. Then the radio died yesterday :x . I really don't want to trade up just yet. The Taco only has about 140K on the odo. So, I pulled the radio tonight to check if it's getting volts (which it is). In doing that, I had to pull the center console, which gave me a look at the 4WD shifter. The Taco hasn't had 4WD-high since I got it about 6 years ago. Well, lo and behold, I get a good look at the shifter and the wire from the 4wd switch isn't connected to anything. I looked around a bit but couldn't find anything to plug into, then a wire pops out from under the carpet that isn't connected to anything. Hooked it up to the switch, and things under the truck made an appropriate noise when I pushed the switch. It's either fixed or the transfer case will hit the ground when I test drive it tomorrow. So, two steps back and one step forward.

In my book, an occasional repair bill is better than 5 years of car payments. Then repair bills. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get the Taco fixed.

The latest crop of aftermarket radios look pretty good, so a new radio should be a nice upgrade. I'm not likely to miss having a cassette player in the truck.

The Assistant Tow Vehicle is making an expensive-sounding noise, too.

And the Tear still wants bucks.

When it rains, ... :rainy:

[/whine]

I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

I hear you there, the truck i bought only 6 months ago blew the transmission literally right after I unhooked the camper coming back from the Christmas gathering. Turns out it is a known issue with these to do this about this mileage (150k) due to non-hardened steel on a crucial part. It didn't bother me too much, just hurt my pocketbook. It got me to get my Monte Carlo running which just needed a few minor things, and I drove it, plus it was kind enough to wait until I got home so it broke down in my driveway which was alot better than in a bad part of town in I-20 pulling my camper! Lastly, at least now I know that I have a new transmission and should be good to go for the next couple hundred thousand camping miles! So I look at it as the best case scenario for an expensive piece of mind.

I've also been working on transforming my '65 Scotty from a ball of mud to something nice and campable. I am hoping to get it done by the March gathering but we'll see, I still need to pull the roof off and replace it, everything else is small stuff.

Best of luck on the truck!!
