Just made reservations at Caprock Canyon Honey Flats for the 14th to the 16th.
There were only five 30 amp spots available when I selected mine.

After hours of research, here is what I found. How about this:
Natural Bridge Caverns Challenge with Zip line
It has a tower with challenges on each level to get up the tower and then at the top, you can zip down.
The weight limit is 300 lbs with a 6 ft height limit.
It is $17.50 for one trip up the towers and one zip line down.

We could also tour the caverns.
The Discovery tour is the original tour and the Hidden Tour is a new one with new rooms. This one would be my choice unless we wanted to do the lantern tour.
Here is a link for tickets.

Where to stay? This place has 12 openings and we can reserve by the space.
Cranes Mill Park is a Corp of Engineer park 20miles from the Caverns.

So, how does this look?

Do they have dates available for camping that will fit our schedule somewhat?

Yes, they have 12 openings right now and we can pick our spot. I would say #8, #9, #10 and #11 are close to each other and near the bathroom that has showers. It is on Canyon Lake.

I'm thinking one would have to reserve soon at cranes mill park. I see the larger camping on Canyon Lake seems to be full already.
Even tho Sonoma is a first come from the looks of the other parks I am thinking that many of the spots are taken for the week, considering Spring Break.
Could end up Walmart camping a couple of nights

You are so right. I am going to go ahead and make reservations tonight. I'm not fond of Walmart parking and the nearest other park with openings is the L and L campground.
Remember the dustbowl we had there a few years back and the $3 showers???

I went ahead and made a reservation for Sat & Sunday 8&9th at Cranes Mill. #4 If people decide to go elsewhere then maybe I could meet up later. I still think Sonora might be a tough one to get in.

This should get you to a map of the campsites http://tinyurl.com/omjldds

Gene

Update I just called Sonora and asked about the 10th and 11th of March. I asked him about having space for 4-5 little campers and he said "We'll be able to get you in" Maybe some one else could give them a call to verify. I would hate to have "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" come down on my head. :?

Last time I was at sonora they let me park the trailer in the tent camping area. you should be able to put 2 trailers in each spot if they are busy.

Ok, you guys are about 10 miles from me, now. I have one hookup if needed. Also, a garage apartment, but have to use a handicapped toilet!

Just my 2 cents.

If you stay at Blanco State Park for the couple nights, then it's about 40 min to the caverns.

While at Caprock take a jump up to Palo Duro state park just east of canyon. It's quite amazing.
