What day is the pot luck dinner? My wife and I will bring pull pork sandwiches. We are looking forward to our first meet up and getting to know everyone. We will arrive Thursday after lunch.

Well, bad as I hate to write this post, here goes - We're gonna have to bow out again this year (3rd year in a row ). Linda, just put our deposit toward next year, maybe by then things'll be better. We'll sure miss seeing everyone. I'm sure it'll be a great gathering, as always.

We are newbies. We have camped several times in our teardrop, but never with other teardrops. Can you tell us about what happens at one of these camping trips? Do we bring our own food for most of the meals and only have one potluck dinner? And when is the potluck dinner? What else do we bring besides normal camping stuff? Do people go on hikes? Are most of the activities as a group or on our own? Should we bring our dog? ,Is there anything else we should know?

BDD, We are a pretty laid back group. No one loves barking dogs so just take into consideration your dogs behavior with lots of humans and other dogs around, but there will be others with dogs too, some good, some not so good. (I think I even saw a cat on a leash once! haha!)

Our major activity is just walking around checking out everyone's campers and shooting the breeze then settling back around the campfire in the evening. We will always have a group campfire "Party Site" for those who wish to socialize and most of us do and sit around telling fish stories and retelling old antics from days gone by. Sometimes there are multiple fires going with an opportunity to bounce, but there is typically one centralized "spot". (I am bringing my BB gun in case we do it under the street light again!!) NOT REALLY!!

We are a lively bunch (in a good way) and some shenanigans sometime do occur. Party fouls such as drama are a rare (if ever) occurrence, but we will be sure to be laughing about it. People pretty much fen for themselves except for Saturday suppertime which occurs around 6pm-ish which is a pot luck of grand proportions. Don't try to feed everyone, there are too many dishes around to do so. I try to fill a small corner of 6-8 peoples plate.

We also do a group photo immediately before the pot luck on Saturday so don't be that person running with the crock pot from 20 sites away while 70 people are posed for a picture because we will take it out on you and nominate you the puddin head to eat all of the last of the puddin until you are so dizzy you end up missing your mouth with the spoon!!!

I will do a crockpot of mashed potatoes. Planning on leaving Wednesday as soon as I can get off work. Probably spend the night somewhere on the road unless I can get away early enough to go all the way. Ronnie

For Potluck:
Hillbilly Stir Fry
Roadkill du jour grilled with moonshine sauce with dandelion greens and wild onions fried in possum fat.
Translation:
Grilled chicken and smoked sausage saute'ed with tri-color peppers, garlic and onions with homemade sauce.

Will spend Wednesday on the road (probably at Springhill Park in Barling, AR) and be at Beavers Bend shortly after noon Thursday, I hope. I put new bearings on the trailer last week. First time I've ever done so. Fingers crossed that I didn't mess it up. I mean I did mess it up, but hopefully it's OK now. If I can muster the courage, it's a shame-on-me campfire story good for laughs. Looking forward to meeting new friends.

Yes and this weekend too! I am getting rained on right now at lake livingston! I may have AOLT of firewood for Beavers Bend if it doesnt stop tomorrow!
